RNY in Mexico, RNY vs. Sleeve

I want the gastric bypass and not the sleeve because the bypass restricts AND malabsobs which I think because of my morbid obesity, I need both. But I called Dr. Ortiz office today and they said he only does the sleeve, he doesn't do gastric bypass. I don't know if I should look for another dr in mexico or just get the sleeve. I weigh about 315 pounds now, the most I've ever weighed. I want to lose 165 pounds.

If you want RNY, find another doctor. 

VSG takes less time and is easier and more profitable for the doctor. Many in the US do the same thing. 

Do what is best for you, not the doctor. Many outstanding surgeons in Mexico do RNY.

I am in exactly the same boat.  I had been looking hard at Dr. Ortiz because of the wealth of positive info on their program, but was disappointed that they don't offer the bypass (even though they advertise it on their website!!!). 

You say there are many outstanding surgeons in Mexico that do RNY but shopping for one online is a nightmare.  I start to lean toward a surgeon but then I see outdated info, or things that raise some warning bells and how can I be sure they are not some cheesy butcher?  Do you have recommendations?  I'm willing to pay a bit more if it means getting quality surgery with supportive staff.  Thanks!
