10 years post op finally getting somewhere with left side pain

Now that I've gotten in with a civilian doctor my supposed "gas" pains are finally being taken seriously. After talking with her about my long term problems she immediately suggested a H Pylori test and thorough blood work to be done this Friday. Why didn't any of the military hospital doctors think of this? Almost 8 years of off and on pain and I'm finally getting a referral to a bariatric clinic. I HOPE to finally find answers. On the upside I stopped gaining and have been teetering between 165 and 170 for the last 3 years. I noticed my weight goes up when I have a bout of bloating with the pain.

My father was recently diagnosed with H Pylori. I think its not commonly thought of because H Pylori very rarely gives symptoms. My Dad was having stomach issues for months that they couldn't figure out. Finally did an H-Pylori test and bingo-- that's the issue. My sister was Dx'ed with H pylori prior to her WLS, but never had symptoms.

I hope it gets you your answer!

Yes thanks- back to normal and wanting to eat everything in sight. I only "missed' maybe two meals-- but so want to make up for 'lost time' LOL.

Most doctors would not test for it, because 2/3 of the people in the world have it and it rarely gives any symptoms.

I hope that is your problem because it is usually cleared up very easily with a two week antibiotic prescription.  It will be a big relief if H Pylori is the cause of your pain.

H-pylori came back negative. All vitamins surprisingly came out good. However she says I'm pre-diabetic because my a1c came back high at 5.8 I didn't even know that was possible as I avoid all added sugars. She told me focus on dietary changes and she's going to recheck again in 3 months. I have no idea how to change my diet, other than focusing on not skipping meals (that has become a bad habit)  I had 2 doctors tell me my sugar gets low, but this new doctor says it shows I spike too.
