Advice on what? When I was new here (not so long ago...) I just started reading posts.  If you are curious about what people eat post-op, read some of the What's on your menu posts.  Lot of people getting ready for their surgery or just posting after surgery.  if you have specific questions just post them, someone or many someones will respond.

Congratulations and good luck!  Fun and exciting journey.

I'm just looking for pre surgery or post surgery wisdoms.  Someone just sent me some great links.  I'm new so I don't know what to do :)

There are several online forums but in my opinion this one is by far the best.   So much great advice from people who have walked the walk.  You will learn a lot here.  I come here every day.

My best advice is to pay attention to what the vets say -- even if you don't always like it.  You will get lots of advice from people a few weeks, months, or even a year or two out -- but the proof is in the pudding.  Look for people who have actually gotten to their goal and have learned to maintain it for years.  Everyone loses a lot of weight in the first year.  Some get to goal.  A few rare people actually maintain that successfully and keep coming back to help newbies.

BTW, I will be three years this New Year's Eve.  I am still not a vet.

Good luck.

Yup, yup, yup! All of this and then some!

I love me some vets around here!

And don't get your feelers hurt if they respond in a way you don't like.... I promise you, they mean well

You are too optomistic - most people only lose 2/3 of their excess body weights, even in the honeymoon phase, and most keep offf 1/2 of their excess body weight.

Listen to your surgeon in the first 3 months pre-op.

Not sure how I was "too optimistic."  I said that people lose a ton of weight in the first year  -- never did I specify how much of their excess nor that they maintain it.  Indeed, I expressed that seeking those *****ached goal and maintained it for years were what to look for.
