I know I was in the hospital, I had spot surgical wounds on my abdomen, but I feel like it's some kind of joke.  I don't have any kind of "tool" to work with. Everything still tastes good, I never feel like I've had enough, no feeling of satisfaction at all. I tolerate everything, all solid dense protein. I don't like protein shakes, but used them when I had too. The only thing that made me queezy was pork rinds, bid deal. I weigh and measure EVERYTHING and keep fluids away 30 min. before and after!!

I am disabled from Lyme disease: seizures, migraines and cognitive changes. I try to keep busy at home to distract myself. I'm out with the 4 dogs several times a day so I am moving, though not at a gym.

Even if my surgeon tell me my pouch may be bigger than others or I am really a revision because I had a band, even though it's been out for 3+ years, what difference does that make??  I am doing ALL the work. Again, NO tool to help me out. If I could do this all on my own, I wouldn't have needed a band or bypass in the first place.

Am I making any sense??    I'm not trying to sound whiney, but I feel lost.

You are making sense. I'm sure there will be others with better advice. I feel similar in the sense that except for the scars, I'd hardly know I'd had surgery. My taste buds are the same, and I haven't had any real adverse reactions to anything.

But I think I have restriction (I've never really pushed it to see). I also never feel hunger the way I used to.

When you say you never feel satisfied, Do you mean you feel actual hunger? Or are you looking for a full feeling?

I would suggest trying to work with a behaviorist, or therapist who is familiar with wls or  disordered eating. I have access to a behaviorist through my clinic, and it's so helpful.

The surgery is only one part of the equation for us, but it should be a strong one this early out. I am sorry things aren't working out how you envisioned it.

I believe I'm feeling real hunger, and I have been since week about week 4. All the feelings of hunger except the stomach growl. I do gurgle, but that's different. If it's meal or snack time the hunger will go away for about an hour or so then comes raging back. Even if I'm busy or distracted, it gets my attention. I am trying to use unjury chicken broth for snacks. The warmth with protein seems to stay the hunger a little longer.?  It is taking all my will power to stay away from food.

I am in therapy and had an extensive exam with a WLS behavioral specialist pre-op and was given the green light.

My fear is while I has swelling early post op, I had no problem, but now that that's gone the food is leaving too quickly due to a stoma that is too big to begin with. My surgeon is qualified and is a part of a center of excellence.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm also a revision from band and feel exactly how you are feeling . It's just important to weigh , measure and track our food and trust that it's enough to sustain our needs and not go back. I'm a stay at home mom 5 days a week so I understand it's tougher when your kinda bored but you can do it ... it is very very different for us revisions and a ton slower ... it's just the way it is . It's tough because we are used to feeling pain or kinda choked when we have had enough and although it's a relief to not feel that , we must rely on the measurements

Oh Pat I'm so sorry your going through this.  I don't have any answers for you but it definately does not sound right.  I'm eating 1 1/2 ozs per meal and I'm full.  chicken, fish sit like a rock.  your only 2 weeks ahead of me, you should be where I am.  Did the Surgeon say anything besides your pouch may be bigger? but really how much bigger can it be? I would think dense protein would fill you.  how many oz's  are you eating per meal? my nut is still telling me I should do 3 ozs  per meal.  I'm wondering if you ate 3 ozs  would that holD the hunger off longer?

Thanks Karen!!!   I've been eating 4oz protein(puree) since week 4, gradually increasing the texture until I had solid dense protein. I eat only protein except for 3 green beans and 6 total snow peas. Even my runny nose sensation for fullness is fading away. I occasionally get a crampy sensation in my upper back about 1/2 hour I've eaten. I think this is a full signal??

Not sure, I get a tightness in my pouch.  it last about 30 minutes or so.  I wish I had answers for you.

Do you still have a Gallbladder?  I had pain and cramps in my back after eating when my GB was failing. And I had Peterson's hernia and gut twisted in there...

I needed surgery app 5 months after my RNY to remove my GB and fix hernia .
