In the Hospital...

So I landed myself in the hospital.  I was doing so well... and then Saturday something happened and I spent the weekend feeling like I was slogging through molasses.  THis morning. Called my surgeon's office the nking maybe I am deficient in some mineral or maybe dehydrated.  Turns out I probably had a stroke.  Can I just say that I feel like a failure?  I let myself get fat and unhealthy, and just when I decided to do something to get healthy I have had a stroke.

Minor stroke, they think.  Little weakness on the right side.  Running all kinds of tests.  I get to have zinc, copper, magnesium, the B's, iron, everything I wanted at my 3-mo checkup that they did not so.  So at least I will have a lot of data.

Hospital food = terrible.  I balked at the pplesauce they made me eat doe the swallow test.  They do not have protein drinks.  Their yogurt is not sugar free.  Their steak is cooked way beyond death.  Idk what I am going to live on while I am here.

Anyway, whining over, I guess.  Life sucks sometimes.

I'm so sorry to hear that. How scary. But thank goodness you're already on your journey to better health. Can someone bring by some more bypass-friendly options for you? I would be dying for my protein drinks!

I've unfortunately had several long hospital stays since surgery and you are right, the food is not WLS friendly.  I don't think it is even human friendly.  Just do the best you can do.  I did ask for a diabetic diet but really it wasn't much better.

Do not feel like a failure.  At least you have done something proactive for your health.  And it will make a difference.  We all have to live with the damage that was done to our bodies from morbid obesity.  But now you have a chance to regain your health and live longer and healthier than you would have if you didn't have the surgery.
Take care and I hope you can leave soon.

They burned your steak? Those *******s!

I'm glad this was minor, and I'm glad you are getting thoroughly checked out. And I'm really glad you've already lost a bunch of weight, because it will make your recovery easier going forward.

Please keep checking in, and do what the nice folks tell you. Get better soon.

What they brought me could not be called steak.  Was supposed to be 2 oz of flat iron steak.  Was actually five or six little pieces of brown leather.  And no a-1 in sight.

Can you just come show them how to cook a steak? Please?  I will give you my Lauren Conrad blouse.

I'll need to see a picture of the blouse first.
