Is this real life???!!!

I can officially say in my 9 th month post op... I HAVE REACHED MY GOAL! I have been waiting for this day for so long, I almost cant wrap my head around it actually being here. This time last year I was 181 pounds heavier than I am today. I'm the smallest I have been in 20 years! Just wow..... it feels so monumental.

Its been a long hard year. I have learned more about myself in this process than ever before and everyday I'm working on a better/healthier me.. mind, body and soul. I'm a constant work in progress, always will be. I'm ok with that. I don't often give myself praise but just this once I'm going to be damn proud of what I have accomplished... so far.

I'm no fool. I know the work has just gotten started. I have my stretch goal that I am now working on that will be harder than the last 9 months and then from there maintenance.... and I'm learning from many of you THAT is when it actually gets hard. I'm so glad to have this site as a sounding board and " classroom". Thank you all for that. What a ride we are all on. I feel so emotional today.

Here's to the next 9 months of FindingKurr !!

Yayyyy! What an inspiration you are to newbies like me who are waiting on surgery (05/02)! The folks on this forum are the best! I have learned so much in the few weeks I have been on here!

Best of luck to you. I am 7 days out today and feeling surprisingly well.

Shoot me any questions that you have. I was fairly anxious by about now prior to surgery.

You're almost there!

Thank you! I have my last pre-op appointment and labs this afternoon. Then surgery on Tuesday. Nice to hear that you are doing well. I can't find anyone on here who is having/has had surgery with the same surgeons (Drs. Allison & Tieu, New Fit Bariatrics in Viera, Florida). The only support groups are an hour or so away from where I live. I am hoping to be well enough to return to my full time job (desk job) on Wed. May 10. Do you work? Roxanne

I do. I work a desk job and to be honest, it was a fairly new job, so the stress of figuring out how to take the least amount of time off was weighing heavily on me. I had surgery on Wednesday, home from hospital on Friday. I did get up and walk asap and kept doing that as well as sitting upright in bed and even on the big recliner in the hospital room. Slept and set an alarm to get up and walk every hour throughout the day and pushed through despite my desire to sleep or just lay around. I felt darned good by Sunday and by Monday, I was back at work. I was tired and my bowels were being funny, so I have been taking colace like crazy and found a fantastic protein water that I have been sipping on as I was stressed about becoming dehydrated. Monday and Tuesday were work, home, drink, walk, sleep, sleep, sleep. By Wednesday, I honestly felt back to normal. My husband and I are both shocked at how great I feel today. Itching to get back to the gym, so I went for a nice easy walk this morning. You will be tired, but just keep liquids down, push past the mental desire to lay around to heal because the activity is what I think really made my recovery so easy.

Best of luck and keep me posted.
