Horrible night

I was eating my dinner last night, baked chicken and veggies, and the STUCK feeling hit again. I have had this darn Lap Band since 9/2008. I am soo sick of it. I chew my food thoroughly, I eat slow slow, and I take very small bites. I did the usual, burping, Lamaze breathing, started to walk around the house.. and then finally, it all came up. I was soooo MAD. I started crying, I cannot wait to get that darn Lap Band out!! It is miserable. One of the worst things I have ever done, besides marrying my 1st husband. LOL

Has anyone else experienced this with their lap band?

How much happier and how much relief will I have when I get revised to the RNY?

You are not alone...I am counting down the days until this thing is OUT!

My revision is May 16th.

I get stuck ALL the time and it can be soooooo random....even on scrambled eggs?! I don't even bother eating in the mornings anymore, I have been having a protein shake every morning for months. Lots of tears shed because of this band, I can't wait for my revision and a fresh start!

Yes all the time for 2 years prior to me having it removed. I was so tired of hurting I went more towards slider foods to sooth my tummy. (Yes I know it was bad but it hurt). I was so happy when it was removed, my doc waiting 4 months to revise to RNY and it was wonderful eating and not hurting, getting stuck, throwing up, etc.

Hold on things will get better. Your not alone!

I think all of us who have had the band experienced this! By the time I was ready for a revision I was throwing up multiple times a day, even on water and soup, sometimes.

I revised to RNY almost 2 years ago and I can count on one hand the number of stuck episodes I have had, since. Plus, another bonus is that the stuck episodes feel completely different--still not fun, but not nearly the agony and pain I felt in my esophagus, as before.

I hope to hear that you love your RNY as much as I do :)

I had my lap band for 10 years and absolutely had this happen over and over again. I began to just eat slider foods because that was all I could keep down. I had the horrible thing out and revised to RNY In September and the change is quite seriously like a miracle for me. I've only gotten stuck a couple of times and it really was my own fault for eating too fast. As JB said it isn't the same pain you feel with that contraption. I'm sure you will be happy and relieved once that is out of you.

I am looking forward to getting it out. This morning while having my Creamer with coffee (that is what my husband calls it).. I had a hard time getting that down. Only if you are banded will you ever understand how you can get stuck on a liquid. grrrr.

How was the recovery for the revision?

Doc says that the RNY is actually a shorter recovery than the Sleeve.

I thought my recovery was pretty easy. The only real pain I felt was from gas.

Tuesday is my surgery day. I cannot wait to get my lapband removed. I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed that my surgeon can remove band and revise to RNY the same day. If not, another surgery in October. I'm thankful for this opportunity and will be so happy to have that band gone!

I'm so glad to read several posts from others who have the lap-band and are transitioning or have transitioned to a bypass. That's exactly what I'm in the process of doing. When I was at the hospital last week doing all of the pre-op testing, the girls there said they had never heard of anyone going from a band to a bypass. They just looked at each other and talked to me like I somehow failed and was doing something over the top and ridiculous. I was really embarrassed, honestly. Anyway, it's just really good to see other people going through the same thing.

This is my first post here so forgive me if I break any community rules by accident. I've never joined any online forum before at all. I also never sought out any support groups after my lapband surgery, which was probably a mistake. I think going into this next surgery with some type of support behind me, even if only online, will make things a lot easier and less scary.
