Unfortunately I don't have my pre-op levels to compare to but was wondering if anyone can help me to interpret these results. I know my cholesterol is high, but I think it's dropped from pre-op. I should call my dr and ask. I'm taking my vitamin D supplements again so hopefully that number will start to rise. I have no idea what the alanine aminotransferase is.

I do plan to do research so that I can better understand these numbers for future but appreciate any help in the meantime.

It's a liver enzyme. I'm sure all folks that have this surgery also have "fatty liver disease" and that high reading could very likely be from that.

As always it's best to speak with your surgeon.

Try to contact the lab and get your pre-op labs. In the US, the labs have 800 numbers and they sent me my old labs.

Get all of the past labs you can, and put them into a spreadsheet. Having all of your trends at a glance can be really helpful.

Just looking quickly, I would increase D, of course, and B12. Both can go up and down pretty easily.

Your PTH is high, which is not good. That's one number you would rather have lower, not higher. It's an indication you may be leaching calcium from your bones. I would up my calcium citrate.

Calcium needs other things for proper absorption. If D, K, and magnesium are low, calcium absorption drops.

I agree about the PTH. Mine is high, which is concerning to my surgeon and the endocrinologist he sent me to to address my dumping/RH. In fact, it was the first thing she discussed at my initial appointment. I've now been sent for a bone density scan, another PTH blood test, and I have to do a 24 hour urine collection in the next few weeks to see if I'm peeing out calcium. My Vit. D is high (like toxic levels high) so I don't supplement that anymore, but you should definitely keep an eye on that number.

yea - even though your B12 is in the normal range, a lot of us feel better when it's higher. Like even 1000 or more....

Your ferritin is high which could indicate sideroblastic anemia or thalassemia. (High stored iron can mean that your body isn't making enough of the other things it needs to use the iron - porphyrin and globin.) Or you might just be taking too much. Regardless, it's worth asking your doctor about.
