Hello. New to the group and this whole experience. I am eight days since surgery, on full liquids, and feel fine. I didn't expect to feel this good...nor to be able to eat or drink as much as i am. I am drinking around 60-70 oz of water already, and for a typical meal today, was able to comfortably finish 4oz undry chx broth + an entire sugar free jello + 4oz v8.

I didn't think I would be able to finish a jello at one time...

So my question..am I over doing it already?

Is it only because it's still full liquids, and it will changes when more solid foods are introduced?

I appreciate any feedback. I have tons of questions..but thought I'd start here *smiles*

I don't think you can overdue just liquids. Someone correct me if that's wrong! You will feel more restriction when you start food.

Liquids will go right through your pouch. I was able to easily meet my fluid requirements during my liquid stage after surgery. You begin to feel restriction as you begin to incorporate more solid foods into your diet.

It sounds like you are doing great. I would ditch the V8 though. It's very acidic, and it's just empty calories.

Are you not drinking protein shakes yet?

Sounds like you are doing wonderfully. I also had the same worry as I was getting my water in right away.

It is true that you cannot really overdo non-calorie liquids. When do you begin protein shakes?

Like the others, I would definitely cut out the V8.

Congratulations !!!

I have to agree with everyone!

You can't really overdue the fluids! They are so important throughout your journey...

I would stay away from the V8...

Continue to drink water and ensure that your liquid protein requirements are being met first and foremost...

Good luck!

What they all said...doing great!

One thing I would add is since your surgery is so recent you might keep in mind that your nerves were cut and haven't had time to heal yet. You may be feeling numb internally now so don't explore things beyond your doctor's recommendations or rush to progress your diet stages too fast. Slow and to your doctor's plan is best. You don't want to eat too much without feeling it. In a few more weeks you likely will start actually having the sensations of fullness and they will feel differently.

It is a wild ride! Enjoy your journey.
