Very few of the people that were here back in 2004 will still be here, or remember me, but, 13 years ago I was 324 pounds and in sad shape at 40 years old. I resolved to do something and I did. I had RNY Gastric Bypass in November of 2004. In less than a year I was down 110 pounds and hoping for more at 5' 8". But, old bad habits crept in, and I slowly started putting it back on.

By August of 2014 I was back to 284 pounds. With the awesome support of my wife I saught a revision and had the surgery on the 9th of August.

I am down almost 20 pounds, one week later, and feeling good.

I've been through it before, and am doing it again. Maybe I can help some with any questions, and I am sure I will have a few of my own.

Thanks,

Jim

Well you're definitely not alone! I had my RNY in 2003 ...I joined OH in 2007 but I'm not sure I ever posted! I regained to over 300lbs and am now losing the regain!! I read the daily menu posts and have learned so much from them! Lots of information and advice there... wow down twenty pounds in one week! Congratulations...and keep doing

I had mine in July 2004, there are a few of us around still. Welcome back. I have found hanging out here has helped keep me mindful.

Hi Jim,

Nice to hear from you. I started here in 2003 with a lapband, lost 154 pounds. My band prolapsed and while it was removed, I had a sleeve gastrectomy in 2008. Fast forward nine years later and some gain due to chronic reflux, hernia, lack of exercise and bad eating, I had a revision to RNY.

Nice to hear I am not the only long termer that has had a revision. Hopefully this one is more effective than the last. Nothing wrong with the previous surgery, but my self control would not hold.

Thanks,

Jim

Basically the same as the original surgery. Re-staple the pouch smaller, remove more of the colon (optional) and reattach it back to the new pouch.
