Every practice is different- so it's hard to say. Why not ask them what the appointment will consist of?

Congrats on starting your journey! The surgeon did the intake seminar and first visit--I'm very lucky. The seminar went over the different surgeries and an overview of WLS in general. The appoint consisted of a physical and discussion: my history, current medical status, what my goals were (i.e. why I wanted WLS), and the possible different surgeries I should have. She then covered the process and what I needed to do over the next few months to complete the journey so they can submit to the insurance company.

Good luck!

My first appointment after the seminar was with the Nurse Practitioner. They collected information like medications, allergies, past med/surgical history. General physical. Vital signs and blood work. It was a good chance to ask questions since she had more time to take with me than anyone else really did. Congrats on your first appt!

I had my first nurse appointment at TOH, then they transferred me to the BMI clinic to get things done quicker. The nurse at the WMC at the Civic just talked about what to expect in the next coming months, she asked me about my eating habits, and gave me tips.

BMI Cinic ~ wow seems weird to go there but if it helps then with booking other appointments then why not....I'll have to look up where that clinic is and I'm not too familiar with them. Thanks for your help and I'll keep you posted.

About 20% of Ottawa Hospitals Bariatric patients get sent to the BMI Clinic. I didn't have a choice in where to go. BMI Clinic doesn't really advertise surgery. You have to get refered to them. The BMI Clinic wait time is 4-7 months. Ottawa Hospital is almost double.

Oh, I think it is just nerves... Everything will be alright, I am sure!! Just do not be stressed. Also, if your nurse is a good one, you will see that you will like this appointment so much that you will want to go more for it. If I already started to speak about this, I want to say that the most important detail in these cases is the expert. In general, not only about this case, the specialists are the key to a happy and healthy patient. Even phlebotomists are very important to be good, not in vain exist courses like this phlebotomynearyou.com.
