8 days out from surgery, questions

I had to add peanut-butter or peanut butter powder to the shakes at first to help get them down.

I never counted calories but 350 is kinda low. Starving yourself is going to lower your metabolism.

I weighed myself monthly. Much easier on the soul.

I was around 350-400 calories this early out. It wasn't a problem for me. It will gradually increase so I don't think it's a problem this early out. I had cottage cheese and Greek yogurt as well as adding unflavored protein powder to broth.

I used Spirutein Simply Natural (which is their unsweetened product) for many years. Plant based protein. I was sad when my program said we couldn't use it as it mixed so well with yogurt (I don't have a dairy issue). However, I've tried a number of plant based proteins over the years and found this was very good tasting. But you got to get your protein numbers up - it's key to recovery. Good luck.

AT this point counting fluid is tne most important and counting protein second.

WEighing everyday is not necessarily a no-no. Only you can decide what works for you. 3+ years out I still weigh everyday. Also went into a stall one week after surgery that lasted 3 1/2 weeks.

WHen you say you can't tolerate whey, what does that mean? Were you using 100% whey protein isolate and not concentrate? Isolate is lactose free and concentrate isn't. Sometime people become la ctose intolerant after surgery. You have to realize you are probably not absorbing all that plant based protein.

I did track calories immediately post-op and was right around 350 in the first few weeks when I was eating similar to you. I only weighed monthly while losing to avoid the head game of seeing stalls.
