Greetings,

The really nice lady I spoke with (Kathy, I believe) on the surgeon referral number suggested this forum as a good starting place for me, so here I am. The thought of missing out on a meaningful life at age 45 is really starting to get real and hit home. I feel I'm ready to start the gastric bypass journey and my PCP recommended it as well. I've began the surgeon selection process and look forward to hearing their input on my options moving forward.

Thanks,

Scott

Welcome Scott!

I was steered here by my bariatric center and I've found this place to be a major help! I'm only 5 months out and I feel like my life has changed so much for the better!

I think the major take-away I've gotten from this site is that this isn't so much about losing the weight, it's about setting yourself up to keep the weight off once it's gone. Stick around, browse through the daily menu thread, and start to get a feel for the changes you'll want to make in your life to cement in the good changes.

Hope to see you around more!

Im of a similar age. I convinced myself that I "had a good run" and now it was time to accept defeat and face the truth that I was not going to lose 80-100 lbs from diet/exercise and keep it off.

I had a gallbladder removed last year and based on how easy it was decided to pull the trigger on RNY. It's gone very well. 6 months out and I'm down about 80 pounds.

The pre op process can seem daunting but it's worth the effort. Good luck.

Honestly, apart from those first few weeks post-op, the first 6 months is the easy part.
