6 MONTHS OUT... My nose is like a fountain and a question for the ladies.

So it's a little over 6 months now and I'm just a couple of pounds short of my original goal. I've lost a bit over 80 pounds since Dr Wong and his robot did their voodoo on me and 90 pounds less than my highest recorded weight. I'm sure I coulda lost a bit more but I am keeping the scale moving in the right direction. Weight loss is slowing down as I'm consuming more calories but I'm really happy with the way I've been eating. I still feel restriction at times which is great. There are days when I just eat what I want but just in much smaller portions. I'm not carb free but definitely carb conscious and if I eat something bad, it's going to be of the highest quality. No fast food...no junk sweets. My tastes have "matured" and I often find myself saying things like "This is too rich" or "this is too sweet" which sounds like Chinese coming out of my mouth. Soon I'll do bloodwork and see the damage done there. I've been taking pills for years so I've pretty much kept up with all the MVs, Calcium, B-12 and Iron. We'll see how well I've been absorbing all that. Up to 15 vials right? I've lost consciousness giving much less.

I'm still taking omeprazole and if I don't I do feel the old familiar burning sensation usually in the middle of the night. Obviously RNY was the wise choice over the sleeve.

So the new thing is my nose seems to always be cold and running. Now I've got literal snot to go with my usual snotty attitude. I kind of recall seeing something about this in here. Vagus nerve?

And this one goes out to ladies that I assume would know more about this than the fellas.... Are there any really good products out there that actually work to tighten skin? I'm blessed that I don't necessarily need to remove excess skin but I am a bit more jiggly than I'd like to be. Obviously I'm more vain too. :wink-wink:

Only plastic surgery will tighten skin. Lotions, wraps, treatments... all are a waste of money.

For what it's worth, my plastic surgeon (for prior breast reconstruction not for WLS) told me that while there is no "cure" for excess skin post weight loss, that the body does redistribute fat some and that where I'm sagging now may not be the same sag in six months. In my case we were discussing my now empty breasts that he had reconstructed with belly fat. His advice was to wait for about six months post goal, and give my body a chance to "bounce back". He said that many of his patients find that their face fills back in a little, and they get a little more subQ fat in places, which can on occasion appear to ad a little thickness to the skin.

I don't know about the runny nose, but I do know about taming the jiggle. Until you decide to do plastic surgery (and you may never do it, it's up to you), look into a compression top. I think garments tailored toward ladies are more ubiquitous, but I know they make what I think of as "man-girdles". Wearing one will make a huge difference in your silhouette and you might be able to wear something closer-fitting than you would be able to without. I wear shapewear every day and at this point I feel weird without it.

Yes to the Vagus nerve being affected. Are you having any pain in the left shoulder, neck, or jaw?
