Exciting day today!

I have officially hit my first mini goal today. 250 lbs is where I'm at right now. I told my husband once I hit 250 I would have a little celebration. I'm so happy to be here right now, and while it's been hard. I'm proud of myself. I may still have trouble finding foods, but I'm not going off the wagon and sabotaging my progress. I stopped smoking 6 months before my surgery, I stopped pop 4 months before surgery. I've learned to give up a lot of foods (you know.. pizza and what not) because I wanted to be healthier.

Do I still wistfully look at those things when my husband eats them, of course. But I'm remaining true to my life change. Have I had a bite of pasta or bread?, yes.. but I learned they don't agree with me anymore. My nutritionist said that to remain happy and healthy I need to stop thinking about all of this as a diet, and instead think of it as just a lifestyle change. I can still have little treats but I need to change how I treat myself.

Instead of candy I eat a few bites of fruit. Yes these still have sugar and I don't gorge, but at least it's natural sugar and not processed. I'm still learning what is good and what is not. I know the main things, I just need to learn the smaller steps at times. But to reach 250 has thrilled me. 2 months before my surgery I was at 325...I will never go back to this again, and my next mini goal is 200. I know I can do this, I just have to have faith in myself and the process.

Congrats Miranda F-

You are doing awesome. Keep up the great wor****ep telling myself one day at a time. I did what you did, by stop and changing the way I ate before surgery. I figured it was easier, which it is. I see the surgery as a tool to help with our new life style. Good luck on your Journey. I can't wait till I can say I am in the 200s.

Thank you all for the replies. I'm very excited, 2 years ago I had gotten down to 260 but I was very unhealthy and my doctor at that time was giving me so many meds I felt terrible. Then cancer came and the weight I lost proved to be just the meds and cancer. I gained it all back plus some. Thanks to this surgery I'm slowly but surely loosing weight. My plateaus are long sometimes but I refuse to give up. I know if I keep at it.. I'll keep slowly loosing. Then once I'm at my own goal weight of 150, I'll slowly eat more calories until I stop gaining and just maintain.

I look forward to getting to wonderland!! AND I'm almost to below 40 bmi!! :) i haven't been below 40 bmi in 10+ years :)
