Frozen

I'm loving everything about the last 8 months or so, except one thing. I'm absolutely frozen all of the time, even all summer I was cold. I'd imagine it's a combination of the effect of surgery itself, the weird hormonal stuff leveling itself out, the lack of insulation, the weather change, and so on. Iron and all vitamins/minerals are all normal, blood's good.

I believe it will eventually self regulate, but holy cow! I'm a meat popsicle most of the time. Glad I've found some warm clothes at the thrift stores!

The same is true for me. I used to always be hot and now I am cold most of the time. I'm definitely dressing warmer than I used to. I wore short sleeves all year and had a fan at my desk. No more!

It's 66 degrees in my office, that doesn't help. They've never been able to get the boiler or the a/c to regulate in this 60 year old building. They try but it just doesn't happen. In the summer it's often 85-95 degrees and the a/c is either not on, broken, or can't get regulated well. By the time it gets halfway decent it's time to turn on the boiler, which also takes forever to regulate. So that doesn't help. Space heaters and sweaters, and a mug of coffee on a ceramic warmer it is! LOL

Geez it's gonna be a long winter. Hahaha

Have you tried an electric throw?

No, but I think I know what my Christmas present to myself will be. I debated one of those "Snuggee" things for about 5 seconds, but I think I'd just have to hand in my man card and maybe kick my own arse if I did that. Just can't do it. LOL

We have an electric heating pad at home, I might dig that out and just lay on it on the couch for a while at night.

Last Christmas I received a heated mattress pad, and a heated throw... those were both by request, and my two favorite presents...

Oh, and a stocking filled with those hand heaters and foot heaters...

At work, my heater runs the entire time I'm here... I turn it on before I start up my computer!

I swear it's year round, and I'm already dreading this winter. I was hoping it would get better, but I'm beginning to think not.

I had a much easier time doing things like yard work and taking the kids to the beach this summer, even with the amount I'd lost to that point. I even got a little bit of sun on my body this year, loose-ish skin and all, I lost the shirt for a couple of hours of sunbathing and just didn't care if anybody noticed my reflective-white torso gracing the sand. I must have looked like a signal flare compared to the bronze bodies of those around me, including my beach bum babies. It felt so good to be warm, I just couldn't care less, lol

Even the walk/cycle to work was better. I definitely don't sweat like I used to (drumming, for example, I used to be drenched even just setting up/tearing down, let alone playing a 3 hour show). That's been great!

I live in the south and have been cold summer and winter since my surgery nearly 8 years ago.

I wear lots of layered, lol.

I work from home. There is no doubt we will be using an extra tank of oil this winter.
