What do I need to bring to the hospital?

I assume you're asking about when you have a RnY?

I suggest taking:

Your insurance card and I.D.

Any medicines you take (your surgeon will tell you which to take and when),

Eyeglasses/contacts/contact lens solution and case, etc.

A loose comfortable garment to go home in, something not too tight at the waist

Women benefit by taking along a comfortable sleep-type of bra

A pillow to rest your head when going home if it's at a distance,

A small pillow to put between your belly and the seatbelt when traveling home

Your cell phone

A book, magazines, or tablet

lip balm

I think that's about it, though others may have other suggestions. The hospital will provide you with one of those stylish gowns and with treaded socks. I brought a robe with me, but it ended up being easier to put on another hospital gown, backwards over the one I was wearing. Because of the IV this was easier to put on than my own robe.

Best of luck to you!

This list is excellent I highly approve of lip balm. I carried one in my sports bra at the hospital.

Deoderant I used my cell phone a lot to get on the computer and an eye mask.

I brought more than I needed. Looking back, all I used were my slippers, an extra pair of undies, a hairbrush, and a sleep mask.

Things I had that I didn't use are pajamas (their gown had good coverage), an extra pair of clothes (I wore what I wore to the hospital home), iPhone cord (I didn't use my phone), dry mouth spray (didn't have this problem), lip balm (lips were fine), toothbrush/toothpaste (they gave me some).

I agree with Au_Contraire's list you really don't need the huge list they give you. The only thing I did add was a small pad of paper and pen so I could keep of list any questions my husband thought of when there was no one around to answer them so we would not forget to ask.

Also, I know you did not ask this question but piece of advice. On the day you are going home try and plan your pain med's so that you take some before you leave the hospital. I had a 1 1/2 car ride and timing that right made the car ride home much more enjoyable.

Good luck!!!

I brought a really good pillow and it was invaluable. And I had diet vitamin water. Apart from that anything else that might help you pass the time. Beyond the dilaudid of course.
