I had my lap band for 6.5 years and began having problems including a flipped port but the list goes on and on of the discomfort of that thing !! Anyhow, my insurance denied my conversion to bypass 3 times and I appealed it every time . I finally received an approval and was converted to gastric bypass on may 3, 2016 ! My highest regain weight and weight at time of conversion was 198 when I rolled into surgery . The point is some people need a tool to help them lose and maintain a healthy weight and without it we will have a much greater chance at failing ! Lindstrom obesity advocates has proven to be worth every penny to those who have had trouble being approved for surgery and their fees are very reasonable. They will be up front and honest when speaking with you if they believe they can help you or not . By the way.... no way is the gastric bypass like the band ... you'll be satisfied with small portions but you will not have pain when you eat. You'll stop because your satisfied ... not because your choking or sliming ! You also can eat protein without it getting " stuck " so your able to eat well and stick to plan as opposed to eating slider foods because they " go down " . The gastric bypass life is 150 x better quality of a life than band living . Good luck in your process !

Hiya, your post is really helpful thanks for sharing! I am a similar weight to you when you had your conversion. Is it possible I can pm you as I have some questions. My band is out so it's not a conversion now but I'm considering surgery and as you say some people need a "tool"
