Vitamin question - Where is Grim when you need him?

I'm planning on a blood draw on Friday. How long should I stop my supplements prior? It's my second draw on patches (the first was after 3 months of use and I'm concerned that that draw didn't give me a true picture of their effectiveness for me) and I want to make sure I get an accurate picture of my levels. I used to know this, but can't remember . . . .

Oh crap, I will be following this since I get blood done TOMORROW at my RNY surgeon's office! I have my patches on today though, so I guess I'm screwed if the advice is to stop the patches in advance. I have not had bloodwork done with my surgeon ever (haven't seen them since 6 months post-op and my four year surgiversary is next week!).

I do my bloodwork through my surgeon's office. They only recently started following patients on the patch (I was one of guinea pigs). He tested me at 3 months and everything was great. Hoping it continues. But I do remember Grim advising to stop supplements before a blood draw to get an accurate reading. Hoping a few days is good enough. I can put it off, since I have the orders and can go when I want, but I have an appt. in the same building and thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.

I think it is a week, 7 days

IMO- some - 2-3 days, others - a week or longer.

I take weekly B12 shots. I try to make sure it is at least 7-8 days after my shot to test for B12. Iron -- 2-3 days. But ferritin- it does not matter. D- i take mine every week or 2 time a week. Some daily vitamins- water soluble- at least 2-3 days. Most- at least 2-3 days.

I will not go more than 3 days without some C or B's.

Thanks, everyone. While I'm definitely interested in all of my levels, my Ferritin, iron, and D are the ones that concern me the most, as everything else has been trending constant. Now to decide if wed-friday is enough of a break or if I should put it off. Decisions, decisions.

The only thing I hold off for 7 days is B12. No reason to stop taking anything else that I can see

The only thing I was told not to take before bloodwork was my Thyroid meds and just that morning. I just do last dose of vitamins the morning before. Don't wear my patches that night.

I also just hold off on B12 as I take a megadose every three weeks, so I don't want to get tested right after that - I'll wait at least a week. But I take everything else every day, so whatever level the test shows is probably going to be my "normal" level..

Hematologist requests that I stop taking any and all iron supplements 3 days before blood draws.
