I'm so excited to report that I started my back-to-basics diet 6 days ago, cutting out mostly all carbs - no sugar, bread or pasta, and I already lost 5.5lbs. of my regain. I'm also counting calories on MyFitnessPal app and trying to walk a bit more. I'm ecstatic to know that my pouch is still working the way it should. I mean, I'm sure this was all water weight and it'll start going slow but at least it's not going up.

Just wanted to celebrate with you all since you can relate. :) I also want to give hope to others that it's never too late to get back on track. 16lbs to go....

Thank you all for your inspiration and comments/suggestions. This forum is full of amazing people!

That's funny because I've also lost exactly the same amount in the last week. I'm 13.5 years out and my pouch still works too. I hope our examples help those who need to lose regain. Our pouch doesn't become inoperable after a few years, we just have to treat it right.

I see people post as if regain is the end of their surgery, rather than a hiccup. Like most normal people, I have lost and gained lots of weight in the last 10 years, when the hone moon ended. But, I've never regained all my weight because even though my regain has gone too far sometimes, I've always been able to get it under control and not expected that it would take another surgery to "fix" me.

Congrats on your loss!

Congrats Kim that is so awesome at 13.5 years!

Thanks for showing us all that:

  1. showing us newbies that our "tools" still work years out
  2. by getting back to the basics weight loss is possible
  3. regain can be a "hiccup" (I like that term) and people can get the weight off with good old fashioned hard work, i.e. getting off the carb wagon and getting back to protein forward

Proud of you!!! Keep up the awesome work!

Your post made me smile from ear to ear!

Way to go girl!

Our "tool" is never broken, the surgery never fails us, we fail the surgery.

What's the expression "it takes a village to raise a child" I think of that when I am here on OH, the similarity of it takes many people to help one person (that's my analogy anyway as weird as it is). It takes people here on OH who get it, who have had regain or who are maintaining and by reaching out we can help and support each other.

SUPER PROUD OF YOU! Keep up the great work!!

(Blushing) Awwwww. Thank you!!!! Support groups are really amazing. I find that once I stopped visiting gbs support groups online and only eating with people who don't know what being obese ever was, that's when I got off my wagon and started the regain. I most definitely need help from everyone here who have been there. Other people just don't understand.
