Chills after eating

Hi,

New here. I'm a little over a month out from surgery and in the soft foods phase. Despite what I eat in the soft foods category or heavier puréed food category, I get the chills after I eat. It doesn't matter if it's high protein or not - example: I just ate 5 boiled shrimp, chewed to a fine paste over the course of 45 minutes, and 10 minutes later my teeth are chattering and I've got goosebumps. Anyone else have this reaction? My last blood test showed my protein and B-1 was low, but I've never been anemic. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroidism can cause chills after eating.

However, what you are describing isn't typical -- and I would definitely let your doctor know what is happening. It certainly warrants being checked out.

How big are the shrimp? Five sounds like a lot at one month out, but perhaps they are little ones.

Our bodies have some strange signs for fullness - I get chills, hiccups, burps, and even a runny nose.

Do you ever feel sleepy or dizzy within an hour of eating? Reactive hypoglycemia, where your sugar spikes then dips, can be an issue for new patients.

Definitey mention this to your nurse or doctor.
