Hello Menu Makers! How are you all? Oy Vey I had an odd day yesterday. Work is insane and I mean insane. We literally ran out of available beds at the hospital I work at and yet extremely sick people were still coming in through Emerg, we are in a dire situation. I also had my first mammogram and my first breast MRI with contrast dye (all of this is because of my Mom's breast cancer last year). I got an allergic reaction to the contrast dye and I broke out in hives and a rash, UGH.

Accountability: Well I was up at 4:45am and got home at 10pm. I didn't drink enough liquids and I had a bagel on the way home from my MRI. Not a good choice but I didn't think I would be home that late. No gym since I got home so late.

Quote of the day:

Time since surgery: 4 yrs + 3 mos

B:1 vanilla PP and a Grande skinny vanilla latte from SB then 2oz of harvarti cheese & BTC energy bar

L: 4oz of tandoori chicken skewers with hot sauce

S: small banana

D: 4oz of shrimp with ****tail sauce

S: 1 cup of cantaloupe + 100 calorie bag of popcorn

TOTALS: 897 calories, 96 protein, 88 carbs

V: Patches are on (Iron, Multi, B12, VitD & Calcium) + extra oral D3 & B12

E: will see how my back is and if its better will go to the gym and do a run and some leg work

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning. Oh no--is all the illness at the hospital from the flu? It's scary out there...

I am heading into the actual office today which will be nice. I have been alone in a school for a few days and I was starting to crazy. I am not good at being alone! But the mural project is coming along--here are a few photos of it in the sketch stage. I am obsessed with the girl who has a bookshelf in her hair. I want that in my house, haha.

Your quote no longer resonates with me... I used to really worry about acceptance from others but the older I get the less I care. Like me or don't--I have plenty of wonderful friends, and if you don't treat me well, I will move on. I don't have time for anyone's BS.

Accountability: I had wine last night.

Cool mural, Julia. I love the girl with the bookshelf hair, too! My bookish daughter would love that!

I agree. I have started not caring much about what others think of me as well. I have my friends and I'm good with that circle of people I love.

I'm glad you are taking care of your health. I am due for a mammogram as well. It amazes me how many women my age have had breast cancer. One of the women here just found out that she has the gene that makes it highly likely that she will develop full breast cancer (after a bunch of scares already), so she is having a prophylactic mastectomy (with reconstruction) next week.

I do think that the older we get the easier it is to accept ourselves (and stop worrying so much about other people's acceptance).

My BIL arrived for a one week visit last night. We have a show to go to at the lodge in our park tonight, so he will be on his own after dinner (which won't bother him at all).

1 year, 11 months post-op

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: Unsure (potentially salmon)

S: Cottage cheese and/or yogurt and/or prosciutto mozzarella stick

I need to get my mammo scheduled as well. I started getting them at 35 b/c my mom developed breast cancer. And I didn't get mine in December. Thanks for the reminder!

I want to thank you for including your average maintenence calories in your signiture - I find this kind of information super helpful as I try to figure out where I'm falling with others post surgery.

I had my prophylactic mastectomy in 2012 - not sure I'd do it now with current info but also not sure I wouldn't. My first reconstruction was with implants but my body encapsulated them twice so I ended up going with a fat transplant surgery (13 hours in 2014) which was wonderful! Except guess where I lost ALL my fat first. Yep. I am literally skin and construction scaffolding (they used cadaver tissue to build the platform for the transferred fat) now I'm flatter than any time since I passed puberty. I'm trying to think of my current body type as "sporty" but it is very weird to see myself in the mirror - even more weird that the weeks after my mastectomy because then I had the scaring and other indicators of surgery /healing.

You are welcome! I find it helpful too so tried to include what I used to look for in my signature. I had a Dexa scan and RMR last summer and was hoping they'd tell me I could maintain on more calories, but sigh... unfortunately not!

I would have a mastectomy in a heartbeat to avoid (or cure) cancer. To me they are just appendages. Of course, I would reconstruct hopefully. The woman I know having it said there are some newer materials being used?
