Did You Have Worsening Depression / Anxiety After Surgery??

Hello All!

I am in the process of being revised from band to bypass and one thing I'm really nervous about are "the hormones". EVERYONE talks about "the hormones" and how hormones change after this surgery.

I have lived with Depression and Anxiety for 30 years and for the most part (maybe a month or two in the winter) it's under control.

Did anyone have DIAGNOSED Anxiety / Depression before surgery that you were on meds for? What happened after surgery? Are you feeling better? Worse? I would just like some input from people like me to see if "the hormones" affect mood in the LONG term. I full on expect that for the first few months things will be a little weird :-)

Thanks for your input!

Sheila

Understood, and I agree. But I got the band well over 10 years ago and that really isn't the question at hand. I truly am concerned about clinical depression, not the "sadness" of needing another surgery.

Do you have experience with what I was asking about? I really need THAT kind of feedback. Thank you.

Dude. Just stop. You obviously don't know anything about what you're talking about. You aren't being helpful.

Sheila - I know you are on your way to getting your questions answered by the vets that have valuable input. while I am always happy for those that achieve success I am always taken aback by some narcissistic folks that are "one year wonders" and want to throw that success in others face. Keep coming here for input and advice, you will see far more good than bad.

Oh my gosh! You are just TOO sweet! :-) Thank you!

I was a member here long ago when I got my first band. Then, after the second one was removed, I deleted EVERYTHING and was outta here! I was upset. But, I know how helpful this group can be and how amazing it is to connect with like-minded people. It's more important that I look to the 100 people that are helping and not give any attention to the 1 that is being a weenie. Thank you so much for your input. You are a good human

I stepped back over a week ago. People can be so condescending as well. We're all adults here. No need to make people feel like they're being bullied. I responded to a question someone had asked. Just said what I was doing at this point and time but was told I shouldn't be doing something so ?stupid? and that they wouldn?t ?let their dogs? do that either. I honestly don?t need that kind of ?help?. My support system at home is awesome and I loved coming here to talk with people that have gone through what I have but not in that way.
