  • Never Exercised Never did Shakes Never took a Single Vitamin and my blood work is always perfect I eat whatever I want but get full super quick I don't do sweets or pop or fast food that will make me sick. the surgery does it all don't let anyone fool you its the easiest thing in the world it just takes time, the surgery was super simple for me and I felt fine afterwards not a single issue just like my surgeon said. I get irritated at the people that say otherwise . Its like they just want attention. But maybe it is the hardest thing they've done if that's true then they've lived a very sheltered life. I wish I had done this many years sooner. It sure works!

Congrats on your success, I really do mean that!

However, this is terrible advice for any new prospect looking into RNY! It's great that your lab work is good without vitamins, but that is NOT the norm. People can and do have serious complications if they neglect to take vitamins, and there are many examples here. You are only two years out, and "eating whatever you want" may come back to bite you as you are so freshly out of the honeymoon period.

Again, I'm happy for your weight loss, and glad you feel so great, but telling people they can eat whatever they want, not take their vitamins, and that they won't have complications is irresponsible.

You look much healthier, so congratulations on that front.

I do have to say, however, that I think every person's journey is very personal. Losing weight AND KEEPING IT OFF is not easy for many people, as evidenced by obesity rates around the world. Please do not discredit people who find losing weight to be difficult. For me, personally, losing weight wasn't hard after RNY, but maintaining the loss at 4 years and 4 months out is a daily struggle.

I would also really advise you to NOT tell people to not take vitamins. I take a host of vitamins and am still deficient in B12, D2 and iron - in fact, I am having an iron infusion tomorrow. It's very harmful to give advice to not follow the guidelines outlined by the ASMBS For anyone reading this post, please do not ignore the vitamin regimen that your surgeon or the ASMBS has recommended.

You are fortunate that you can eat "anything" you want. Many of us have to steer clear of the foods that made us morbidly obese in the first place. It varies by person.

Surgery 2 years ago and your blood work is fine? Give it another year or two and you'll LITERALLY be close to death.

I hope pre ops and new ops scroll past this drivel. Your posting history shows a pattern of nonsense and TERRIBLE advice.

Not sure of the motive for your posts, but they're usually mean and supercilious. I hope you are able to find some compassion and happiness in your life.

You have a history of blocking people who call you out, so I'm expecting you to do so. If you believed what you posted, you'd be happy to discuss your POV.

There will always be intelligent people here to call you out!

Aw the wonderful two year mark. Obesity has been cured and people tell you that you look too skinny. Enjoy this because it is the last phase before the bounce-back regain phase. By 30 months your body will have recovered from the surgery.

The body is smart and it will figure out how to gain that weight back that it has lost through surgical starvation. Everybody can maintain effortlessly at two years out. By three years out, that is no longer the case.

Your intestines have hairlike appendages that reach out and grab the food. They hold the food against the intestines so that he calories can be absorbed. Those were cut out, but the body will be growing lots of new ones. Your calories will be absorbed again.

Because you were so heavy, your body had enough vitamin reserves to get you through two years without supplements. But the part of the intestines that absorbs vitamins has been removed and that does not grow back. So the vitamin deficiencies will appear as your stores deplete themselves. That is why we take supplements.

Gaining 20 pounds back by the beginning of year three is normal. Many people regain 50% of the lost weight by year five. Losing with surgery is the easy part. Maintaining is the hard part. That is why we do not consider someone a veteran until they have hit the five year mark.

Congrats on your success to this point. I am concerned with your post, I hope you do not feel that WLS is a Staples " Easy" button??? I think you need to do some research regarding Vitamins and WLS, and am also curious if you are transparent with your Provider? I would think not. Please get in front of this before it is too late.
