6 weeks and some troubles

Yikes! That must have hurt, darn concrete! Passing out is exactly what I am worried about, I have to go back to work and I'm quite concerned about passing out after standing up in a clients home, given the nature of my work it could be very unsafe for me to do so. I did have one bottle of G2 but the sugar was still "high" so I split it in to four servings one each day, which of course seemed to negate the electrolyte improvements lol. But maybe I'll get a bottle to keep in my car/at work for really bad days just in case until I can obtain the Powerade zero. Thanks for your reply!

I had this same problem right after surgery. My doctor had me drink regular Gatorade (as the sugar free one is not true hydration therapy without a little added sugar) and/or coconu****er. This did not impact my weight loss. Instead, it helped immensely with the dizziness and lightheadedness. I also had to get up from sitting or laying down VERY slowly. This issue got better after 3-4 months. YMMV

Very interesting about considering coconu****er, I'll take a look at that! My weight loss is a bit stalled right now (of course) so I'm glad to hear it didn't impact your loss, I'll have to evaluate what effect it has on me. I have to work on the getting up slowly, I just automatically get up and then the wave**** me!

Sounds like you're having a rough go of it, but I agree it you have a Blood Pressure monitor at home you can check yourself, I'm more like 650 - 700 calories a day, but I'm still losing so figure that's okay for me. Be careful if you're having issues when out with the dog, passing out/falling in public is no fun (speaking from experience) and concussions suck. You might make a point of going out after eating if that helps.

Hope it get's better.

Hi there....glad to here you're still losing, funny I'm sort of stuck, have lost two pounds in a week and hovering at the same number for a few days. Right on time for a stall...

thanks for letting me know where your calories are at, it's helpful to compare with those around the same timeline as you but when there's no guidelines on calories it's hare to know.

A friend is lending me a home machine I just don't have it yet so that will be helpful to look at trends too. And yes...passing out on a walk would be no fun, I don't want to deal with a concussion! Thanks for your reply, hope you are well!

Hi Michelle,

700 calories a day is quite a lot for 6 weeks out. I only eat 150-250 more calories than you at 4.5 years out. Where are you going to go up with your calories by a year out if you are already at 700 at 6 weeks out.

The reason I eat so low of calories is because the farther I get out from my surgery date the less calories my body needs to maintain this weight because I no longer have malabsorption, I now absorb every single calorie I eat. Malabsoprtion only lasts 1 year to 2 years at most. Less for some people.

Just want you to be aware you are pretty high in your calories for so early out. At 6 weeks I was like Stitch and ate maybe 400-450. Enjoy your honeymoon period, it starts to "real" at a year out and really really hard at 2 years and beyond, trust me I am speaking from personal experience.

Best of luck.

I've been trying to get all my protein from food, so even though I'm really low on carbs and almost no veggies the calories still seem to creep up I'm focusing on staying below 700 and am still losing I've lost 13 pounds in the last 2-1/2 weeks, I'm also starting to get more exercise now, when I was below 600 I was constantly exhausted which made working difficult. I'm also 6' tall so I'm not sure if size matters in this case?

Don't get me wrong Michelle, I think you are doing very well!

13 lbs is 2.5 weeks is super fantastic!

Just don't be fooled into the myth of "I am exercising now, therefore I need more calories." Nope the total opposite. You need your body to burn off the fat on your body so when you burn calories you body turns to your storage of fat not extra calories to burn.

You were/are exhausted because YOU JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY 6 WEEKS AGO!!!!!!!!!!! I was exhausted up to 3 months post op, and I mean EXHAUSTED. I didn't start to exercise until I was 7 months post op. I walked a lot yes, but didn't step into a gym until 7 mos after surgery. The exhaustion is from having major surgery, eating lower calories and your body burning all that fat. Do NOT add in more calories.

And don't forget, a pound is a pound, whether that pound of fat is on me at 5'5" or or on you at 6'. Just like a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of butter, its a pound regardless.

Just don't want to see you eating too many calories too soon, its so hard to go down from say 1500 or 1800 calories to 900 calories. Easy to go up, but near impossible to go back down (if you ever need to in the far off future).
