One month out - NSV + Three week stall

Hello all! It's been a minute since I last posted, but I thought I would update everyone and get some advice. So I am one month out today and down a total of 28.8 pounds, 23.8 after surgery (5 pre-op).

Quick NSV, I started out wearing size 22 pants and can now button a size 18! I give it another 10 pounds and I'll be wearing size 18's which is so great because that's the largest size I can find in the non-plus size section of my local stores!

So...food and weight loss. I know about the three week stall and that everyone experiences it differently, if at all. I have lost 8 pounds in the past 2.5 weeks, which is really disappointing after the 15.8 pounds lost the first week and a half. The past week I've only lost 2.6 pounds! I feel like I'm fighting tooth and nail for every 0.2 pounds lost, how can I not lose more when I'm eating 500 calories a day?!?!

So does this sound like the three week stall to everyone? If so, I can buck up and sit it out knowing that it'll break eventually...but I want to make sure that it's not something different.

I eat 500 to 600 calories a day, take all vitamins, and drink 64 oz of water.

Yesterday's food was as follows:

3 pieces of lunch meat turkey (60 calories)

2 piece of lunch meat ham (40 calories)

2 pieces of muenster cheese (140 calories)

chicken breast (150 calories)

12 slices of pepperoni (100 calories)

half a protein shake ( 100 calories)

Total (590 calories)

it looks and sounds like you're doing everything right. the first couple of weeks the weight falls off so fast but it won't do that for long, and the less you weigh the slower it comes off.

I don't think you can really call it a "stall" unless you're not losing anything and usually that will last at least a week or longer.
2 lbs per week is pretty great and is about average I think...they say 8 lbs a month is about what it comes out to for most people...especially after the initial super fast loss...some tend to lose faster depending on many factors but it doesn't help to compare weight loss with other people because everyone's body is different.
continue doing what you are doing and it will keep working!

I'm about 3 and a half months post op and didn't really experience a stall til 3 months out and it lasted a painful 3 weeks.
I am currently losing about 1-3 lbs a week or so at 5'4", 248lbs currently, usually eating between 600-700 cals/day, 60-75 g protein and carbs under 30g.

Congrats on your surgery and accomplishments thus far.

No, you are not in a stall when you are still losing that fast. The first few weeks are amazing, but you will experience days and sometimes weeks when you lose nothing. That may be a stall. Average weight loss is not that fast so you will need to adjust your expectations of how fast the weight will come off.

Your menu looks good, very protein forward, but you can begin to increase your fluids. Surgeons and nuts will tell you that you should drink 64 oz of fluids a day, but to be successful longterm I have found that I need to drink at least 100 oz a day. You probably can't do that yet, but work toward it.

Keep weighing and counting everything that goes in your mouth.

Sounds like you're doing really well, weight loss slows as you get further out (see my tag line), but you'll have a good week and then a not so good week, I try to drink 100 + oz. water daily too, but stalling means not losing any weight, usually at that point you're adjusting in size though. If you're going down sizes like that s congratulations I was in a 22-24 before I started and now I'm just starting to get into 18, depending on the brand.

At three weeks out I stopped losing, and at 4 weeks I'd even GAINED a pound and a half back. Then I stayed there for the next 5 weeks. The scale didn't budge. You're not stalled, not yet. But when it happens, keep an eye on your body and how clothes fit. Even though the scale didn't budge, I dropped inches while I was stalled.

Congrats on all your success so far. As others have mentioned everyone loses at their pace, some with a steady loss and some stop and start type rate. I think it all evens out in the end as long as you stick to you plan. I'm no expert as I'm only just over 2 months out but I think you should feel really proud and can look forward to the end result:)
