Thanks! After almost 16 years of doing much the same thing, this seems like the time to move into a new position. I've never really wanted to be a supervisor, so it will certainly be an adjustment.

I've been a leader of people for about 12 years now -- it's the most rewarding and most frustrating part of my job! I sometimes think of moving to a non people management role but I know I would be bored in a short amount of time. People make like interesting!

I don't mind the teaching aspects but I've always been uncomfortable with the parts of the job where you need to deal with unacceptable performance, etc. Fortunately or unfortunately in the govt there are very specific guidelines for how to handle those things.
