Howdy,

Hopefully third time a charm. I have lost 185+ lbs with three surgeries.

First a lapband which prolapsed, then a sleeve causing me reflux and hernia and one year with RNY. I did a great job the first 11 months of my RNY losing 73 pounds. In my 12th month, fell off the wagon completely!! Stopped weighing and measuring and I thought I could eat normal and not weigh myself daily. I had company visiting for most of the month at my home and this changed my eating patterns. Mostly it was going out to dinners at places where I made incredibly bad choices. So back to basics again. I gained about 7 lbs. Half of this is water and I am 4 pounds from my lowest weight which is 151.5.

I still want to get into the 140's from a highest weight which was over 340 give or take back in 2002. Lessons I have learned:

Please listen to the tenured and long termers here on this site when they dole out advice to newbies. The truth is that you will NEVER be able to eat like a normal person who has never had a weight problem. You are not different than all of us here and you will not be unique when it comes to the rules of long term maintenance of weight loss.

You will never be able to eat several thousands of calories a day and keep your weight off unless you are an exercise/coach/ personal trainer for a living. Even then, the ones I know are always on a maintenance diet of 1350-1500 a day :) Each of us has a different metabolic rate but it is very very uncommon to see someone here who can eat more than 1500 a day ( maybe an active guy) and keep the weight off.

Measure your food!

Don't snack!

Drink tons of water! It can be mistaken as hunger!

Take your vitamins!! Every day!!

Get daily exercise!!

Get therapy if you need it!!

Although I sabotaged myself, I am back in the saddle and this gain will come off within 2-3 weeks. Take no prisoners. I am happy eating healthy again after eating a bunch of crap for a month. My stomach feels good and no gassy bloating feelings of eating carbs.

So please learn from the mistakes of others. Especially me!!
