Topic: RE: has anyone ever heard of KLB-500?
I saw this stuff mentioned on Facebook and I wonder if anyone has been told by their bariatric surgeon to take this?  This is what it says:

Each capsule contains: Blue-Green Algae 100mg, Bromelain 100mg, Lecithin 100mg, Kelp 100mg, Apple Cider Vinegar (Potassium) 100mg.

Some of the people that wrote reviews say their bariatric office recommends this.

Topic: RE: 7 months out and need some help
I am at almost the same spot you are.  I am feeling I eat too many carbs. Chips and breads are still my weakness. I walk daily but that is about all the exercise I can get in. I still need to lose anothere 70 pounds at least.

I am struggling.  I hope you don't mind but whatever advice you get I hope to use also!

Topic: RE: Can I please get something off my chest?
This is a big deal.  If you are not 100% committed then give yourself more time.  It is life changing - and there are things you will NOT be able to eat again. But there are lots of things you can eat after and lots of ways I feel so much better.  I am struggling since my surgery 6 months ago.  I have had no side effects at all and don't get warnings about over eating like some people do so I feel like I am still on a constant diet.  I am losing but not as quickly as I expected (my own unrealistic expectations) I still have cravings for breads and pizza and pasta.  What I am saying is this is not an "easy" journey.

Also, I have no regrets.  Just be sure!  Good luck with your decision.

(oh and I bought a really cute summer dress and sun hat to wear by the pool! )

I sent my husband an email with information on where I keep all my passwords and what bills are paid online.  I handle all the financial stuff so he would be clueless LOL.  I think you are wise to make sure everything is covered just so you can relax and heal after the surgery without stressing!

Topic: RE: IRON CHEWABLES!?!?!
I take the Bariatric Advantage Iron Chewy Bite Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.  I get them at the Dr. office but they are also available at Amazon.  I battle iron issues and take them twice a day.  They are a little piece of chocolate raspberry heaven!!  They are my treats!

Topic: RE: 6 months post op -
Well it has been 6 months now.  I still have a long way to go but I am down 80 pounds.  I have not had one experience with dumping or vomiting.  I am so lucky that way.  My labs were all "in range" for the first time.  Only meds I take now are my vitamins and my ambien.

I have even scheduled family photo's for next month.  How different than when I avoided camera's for so many years!

Thank you to so many people here that have helped by giving advice, answering questions and just listening.  This has helped me so much.

Topic: RE: calcium question for the pros lol
Reading this is so educational.  Thanks to you all. I am curious, my last lab work came back saying I was very low on my D (surprise surprise) and my Dr wanted me to take the D3 dry 5000iu per day. What surprised me though is he told me not to waste my money on Calcium right now because with my D so low it is just a waste.  He said my iron is normal now so I don't need to take that either.  If I follow his instructions all I am taking right now is a multi twice a day and D3 once a day.

This makes me a little nervous given the information I read here.  Should I be taking the D3 AND the calcium?

Topic: RE: my surprise moment!I
I was totally unprepared for it! I was at the hair dresser and was a little in the way and I crossed my leg at the knee!

I know that is not a big deal to some people but it was the first time in almost 15 years I have been able to do that!

YAY for surprises!!

Topic: RE: what does a hernia feel like?
I am 3 1/2 months out and for the last 2-3 weeks I have been having a pain right where my largest incision was made.  It started as a little nag when I was in a Zumba class.  I could put my hand on it and hold it tight and it seemed a little better. The next class it seemed to hurt a little more often and now for the last 2 weeks it is just a nagging constant pain.  It isn't the kind of pain that drops you to your knees or anything like that - just something I am aware of.  It doesn't seem to hurt if I am sitting at my desk or lying down, mostly it hurts when I am moving around.  I don't feel any kind of bump or anything like that.

Any guesses?

Topic: RE: a question for those that dump -
I do not dump.  Although I don't push the situation, there are some things I have eaten that one would think would make me dump.  Like sugar - it does not phase me at all.  Bread doesn't seem to phase me either.

My question is - how quickly after you eat something do you experience dumping?  I am thinking it would be pretty quick.

I am 3 months out - I am just now starting to be aware of fullness but that might be related to my doctor just recently approving me to go on more solid foods.  I really had expected to have more negative reactions to things. Now I am wishing I did have reactions so food would frighten me a bit more.

 1.  No

2. I saw her once when I started the supervised weight lost, once pre op, and once for a nutrition class that 10 of us were in.

3. Yes

4.  Yes

5. No

6. Yes - she has been at two support group meetings.  One was on how to order from a menu when eating out and the other was how to grocery shop following WLS.

I did email her once and she was prompt to reply the next day.

Topic: RE: what are you making for Superbowl snacks?
excellent ideas from everyone!   I am headed to the grocery store.  I am making Nik's Magic Meatballs, a tray with sliced meats and cheeses - I have little mini buns for people to make a sammie,  crab stuffed mushroom caps, a pineapple cheese ball (with FF cream cheese) and then SF brownies.  I will probably have a few bowls of nuts and M&M's but I will definitely make my plate and set it aside!

Thank you all

Topic: RE: My surgeon is Anti-Goal Weight.
My doctor actually said he would "like" to see me around 135 while I was thinking 150 would be great.  I am slow to lose but figure I am older and less active due to my job at a desk.  I did see my PCP this week and he was totally thrilled with my progress so far and stopped my blood pressure and cholesterol meds.  I realized when I left his office I felt really GREAT so perhaps reducing the co-morbidities is the healthy way to go.

I do have this really cute tank top I bought at Coldwater Creek waiting for me though!

This will be my first time to hostess since surgery.  I know everyone else can eat anything but I would like to make healthy snacks that I could enjoy also.

Any suggestions?

Went for my regular check up with my PCP today and my cholesterol is 114 and my BP was 108/70.  He said no more pills for those things!  I have not lost the amount of weight some people have but this is such a wonderful encouragment for me!

Topic: RE: Protein Bar Question
I eat the AdvantEDGE stuff from EAS.  11 grams of sugar is too much.  17 grams of protein is good.  Just my opinion.  Hopefully Kelly, Lora, LadyTazz or Nik will give you more info.  They have way more knowledge than I do on nutrition!

Topic: RE: Newby Saying hi
Hi Stefanie and welcome.  I was able to eat cream soups and puddings/jello with my liquid pre op diet.  I was worried about it but I was very dedicated and did not cheat.  The first couple of days I felt deprived LOL but by day 5 I really felt pretty good.  It got easier until the last day.  Then I began thinking of all the food I would probably never eat again and got a little sad - that is what therapy is for though!

I have lost 60lbs as of today since I started this journey with medically supervised dieting etc in July.  This averages 10 pounds a month and I am feeling better every day!

Good Luck!

Topic: RE: For those that need a vitamin schedule
I wonder how I can adjust since I can't take my iron within 2 hours of the calcium?  My doctor actually took me off the calcium until I get my iron numbers up but I added back in twice a day because it worried me.  I will see my PCP for the first time since before my surgery in another week.  I am hoping he will take on my labs because I feel like he knows me and my health so much better.  I like my surgeon but mostly I have to see his nurse practitioner - and she is not my favorite LOL.

Topic: RE: Portion size
I don't know the answer to your question but I want you to know your post was a relief.  I am 10 weeks out and nothing bothers me either.  I have not thown up or had any dumping.  I don't have a problem with bite size or eating too fast.  It is like before my surgery but I am not as hungry.

I am not losing very fast - I just hope I continue to lose.
