Topic: RE: Will gastric bypass help resolve other intestinal issues?
I had a lot of issues that are better.  I figure the small amount of food is what makes the difference.  And, being more aware of what I am eating.
Topic: RE: What's for dinner - Tuesday!
4 chicken nuggets...yum....congrats on your upcoming move...looked at your recipes and will buying some groceries tomorrow to try some of them this week....ty for posting
Topic: RE: Soda!?!
You got several responses to this topic.  I gave up sodas before a lapband so haven't had or craved  any for 3 1/2 yrs.  My stomach felt better when I stopped drinking soda.  At one point diet soda was all  I would drink so not a healthy habit of mine.
Topic: RE: OT - my back - and emotional distress
Have you had any injections for pain in the back?  I had back pain and finally went to a pain mgmnt specialist and now get injections.  There's nothing to the ones I get but it sure relieves the pain.
Topic: RE: Before and 70 days after!!
55 lbs is a lot..congrats
Topic: RE: STILL CAN'T EAT!!! ON DAY 21!!??
My NUT told me to add benefiber and it works to keep one regular.  However, I can only use a little or I go the other way.   I'm 7 wks out and still not able to get in the full water and protein.  I just sip all day and keep trying.  The more I do get in the better I feel.  I do agree that you need to call your Dr and get some suggestions or make sure there's not a stitch in the stomach bothering you.  I'm not pushing to eat more food at this point because I want to make sure I heal really well.  I take a couple of bites and that is it.   I'm not hungry so a couple bites a setting is great at this point.  However, I've not been uncomfortable so please  get hold of your Dr.  Everyone is different as we heal but that is what your Dr is there for to let you know if this is normal.
Topic: RE: I need to start cooking again!
If you have time to cook, look at the website suggested by another member.  Also, look online for recipes or buy a good cookbook.  I love to cook but have to take a break once in awhile so we eat out during those times or I freeze extra for quick meals.  One of my favorite cookbooks is Ree Drummond's - The Pioneer Woman Cookbook.  This month I've been choosing recipes from her 2nd cookbook.  You can also find her recipes online at her website.   I'm 7 wks out and am blessed to be able to eat small amounts of any meat as long as I chew it well.   Ree's pulled pork and sloppy joes were a big hit with my family and made so much that I could freeze some for later.  Also enjoyed the cowgirl quiche, whiskey peach chicken and drip beef.   I find if I make extra and freeze it that it really helps on the nights that I am busy or don't want to cook.
Topic: RE: Band to RNY - stories please
I had the same concerns.   My heaviest wt was 280 and I lost to 219 with band.  It was deflated the 3rd yr while waiting for insurance approval to remove it and get RNY.  I gained to 245 and have lost 30 lbs with the RNY in 7 wks.  I'm 5'6 and at at  215 with a goal of 160.  Looking at the postings I believe that we will actually lose faster now.

Topic: RE: room temperature water makes me vomit
after surgery the NUT suggested warm liquids but I do best with really cold drinks especially water...hot chocolate is the exception
Topic: RE: Bread????
I love it on whole wheat crackers or to roll it in a lettuce leaf.
Topic: RE: yummy breakfast "shake"
I looked at your posted recipes yesterday.  Thank you for taking the time to share.  I love to cook so am one of those that enjoys playing around with recipes and making them my own.
Topic: RE: yummy breakfast "shake"
I love bananas but in my preNUT class we were warned not to eat a whole banana at a sitting due to the sugar and calories so I've avoided bananas at this stage.  I stay closely to the no more than 10 grams a sugar at a meal.  Even my husband is reading labels so we don't bring products high in sugar into our home.  Eventually I'll add half a small frozen banana into my shakes because I do love them.    I'm 7 wks postop and terrified of the "dumping syndrome" so am seriously avoiding the first time.   LOL
Topic: RE: 2 1/2 weeks post-op & no weight loss for 6 days! Help!!!
I'm not in great pain but have noticed a sore stomach as though I've done a lot of situps.  I just figure it is internal healing plus we are doing more each week.  I'm not lifting heavy objects but am doing the laundry, cooking, running the vacuum, etc.  And,  I started a low impact exercise routine.

Topic: RE: Taste buds
Yes, I notice the same at 7 wks out.  Right after surgery the spouse had to buy five different types of bottled water before finding one that didn't taste salty to me.

Topic: RE: Sick 24/7
I pray you feel better soon.  I did well after surgery but was extremely fatigued for 4 wks.  I just kept sipping water and doing my best to get in as much protein as I could.  I've tried several protein drinks and they all made me feel icky.  However, I am 6 wks post op and able to handle the drinks easier...the stomach must be healing.  I'm able to eat any meat so am now getting protein in with what I eat, as well as, with what I drink in protein.   I often eat a spoonful of peanut butter in the evening too.  I hope you find the same change as you get a few days further out.  Hugs
Topic: RE: My First Teeny Tiny Step Toward RNY
I'm happy for you.  And, you'll be so happy as you lose weight.

Topic: RE: HOW LONG DID THE PAIN ON THE LEFT SIDE LAST ????
I did not experience the pain and am 6 wks post op.  I did wear the girdle until the incision was healed to a thin pink line.....about 2 wks.  If the pain is bad, please contact your Dr. to make sure it is normal.
Topic: RE: Getting scared - surgery Tuesday
I'm 5 wks post op and so very glad that I did this.  The procedure was not near as bad as I thought it would be.  I pray you have the same easy recovery that I am experiencing.
Topic: RE: Getting scared - surgery Tuesday
Our stories are very similar.  I am 5 wks post op after having a band removed and went with RNY.  I'm pleased how well I've done with the recovery.

Topic: RE: husband's recovery not going well
I pray your husband is doing better.  I had RNY 5 wks ago and did not experience such so I would lean towards his condition not being normal.

Topic: RE: Does the burping get better?
It does eventually stop.
