Topic: RE: Its been almost 3mos since surgery.....
AND I never thought 3mos ago that I would feel the way that I feel today. I am down 48lbs ( although my ticker wont show it) and I feel like im on the right path for my body. My back no longer hurts me and im not on any more pain meds. I have taken up jogging and am doing that 3x a week,as well as walking in between those days. I am training for a 5k ....and I cant believe im even considering running that far...or that I would even be able to ever. My ankle has been giving me issues because of it but ill get that worked out. I have went from a size 24pants to an 18 and have no issues buttoning them. My shirt size hasnt changed because my breasts havent changed but they are looser at the bottom. I still have issues with eating...most of the time I dont want too...but I still follow the 3hr rule. I also am still having issues with vitamins and making the best healthy food choices. For the most part im sticking to protein...I have some soft cooked veggies here and there. Although I wish at this point that I had lost more weight I know my body is going to do it at a rate that is healthy for it. Im finally able to tell when im hungry and full (thank god) cause I have overate a few times and that is some painful stuff. At 3mos Ive learned so much when it comes to food and have even helped my husband start to get healthier. Hes already lost 7lbs in the last week or so...we eat so much better then we did before and our kids are going to benefit from it. I have talked to several overweight people that have asked about my surgery and I tell them I wouldnt change it for the world even though its the hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life!!

Well just wanted to blabb and get  all that out...hope everyone is doing great on their journeys

Topic: RE: Fat, Sick and Almost Dead
I found it very informative. I agree with Kelly that it wouldnt stay long in the pouch, but for someone that is very early pre-op maybe they could do this to lose a little weight before their pre-op liquid diet. My sister watched it and went out and bought a juicer...she has yet to use it lol. But if you have the 30 some odd dollars a day to juice...I dont see why you wouldnt give it a try.

Topic: RE: I didnt notice a difference til now (PICS)
I didnt notice my weight loss until I took a pic yesterday, and then remembered that my daughter had taken almost an exact one the day before surgery. Even though my weight loss has been steady I feel behind, but this was a push to keep going. I feel like I look like a totally different person.

Topic: RE: Protein shakes and I do not mix...:(
Im on puree foods right now so I dont think that I can have a protein bar. Once I get to where I can eat regular foods I will definitely try those. Right now im only allowed to eat 1/4c at a time,so its getting hard. I guess ill have to drink more of these breakfast things. I will definitely look into powedered milk. and like I said...im done spending money on protein shakes....its been well over $100 in the last month trying to find something.

Topic: RE: Protein shakes and I do not mix...:(
I have tried so many things its sad...syntrax,hot chocolate protein, whey protein powders several different kinds, isopure, and even muscle milk and oh yeah!......They make me so sick!!!

I just tried a pumpkin spice shake from shelly's website, took one sip and threw up. My dad said it tasted fine....Idk why I cant tolerate any of them. I really do try!!!!!

For those of you that dont do protein shakes, how do you get in your protein requirement? The surgeon says im not losing because im not getting enough protein... :(

I had 1oz of chicken today and a small piece of co-jack cheese(lf)
and now im having a carnation breakfast...so right now im only at 22g of protein for the day. Granted its not over yet though. I eat every 3hours,and still cant seem to get all of it in. I do great on my water intake, but im still stalled. I think im totally done with wasting my money on protein shakes...

HELP!

Topic: RE: Puréed stage and pain...
Kelly is exactly right. I was having severe pain when I would eat things like can tuna or chicken...and really bad when I ate soft scrambled eggs. The doc says when it hurts you arent ready for it. So I have to wait another month before introducing those foods again. I can eat wendys chili like there is no tomorrow with no issues...doesnt really make sense lol. She says I can eat the chili if it works for me..but I read the information on it and it does have alot of fat in it....and I havent lost for awhile..so I may be getting off of it. For an occasional meal though it would suffice. I hope you can eat these foods pretty soon...cause im sure looking forward to them myself! good luck

Topic: RE: Moved on...
Yes it was very fast. Like I said I guess cause its more dense. Im excited about the new phase too, hopefully the next 3 weeks go by fast...because I am ready to fire up the grill and slap on some chicken breast lol

Topic: RE: Moved on...
Finally after 3weeks of full liquids I have moved on to pureed foods. So first on my list was refried beans with LF cheese...since I love that. I chewed it really good each bite. Now when I was on yogurt I could handle a 1/2c at a time..and according to my docs plan it should be 1/4-1/2 as tolerated. Now that I had the refried beans I only ate a few bites and stopped....I was FULL!!! Is it because the beans are more dense then the yogurt and pudding? Or was I miscalculating if I was full cause I couldnt feel it.
My hunger has returned so I figure the nerves have grown back, but I dont crave things like sweets and fatty stuff anymore. I would love to have a lean grilled piece of chicken and some fruit or veggies...but not for another 3 weeks..hey I made it this far so I can keep going. I picked up alot of items that I saw on "theworldaccordingtoeggface" blog for the pureed stage and im excited.

Hope everyone has had a good day

Topic: RE: who would have thought?
Interesting...not that I will try it lol. Glad you found something that works for you and you enjoy eating :)

Topic: RE: Recovery!!!!!!
I was very nauseated at first too. Sounds like you are doing great already!!! Get some rest....cause you will definitely need that!

Topic: RE: Just another 'First' that is bound to occur...
Mine stopped after day 5 lol. I didnt lose for 8days. But in the first 5days I lost 17lbs...amazing right? Now Ive started losing again. I started fretting but the doc said its all normal...and like everyone said...somehow you lose inches cause my clothes feel looser then they have in awhile.

Good luck

Topic: RE: Not sure exactly whats going on
I didnt take the meds on a full stomach. I hadnt eaten for over an hour or more when I took it. Im guessing it was just so strong I felt sick. I feel fine now but thanks everyone for the help.

Topic: RE: Not sure exactly whats going on
Nope, but its the first time I felt that sensation. Am I overreacting and the nerves and things are just building themselves back up again?

Topic: RE: Not sure exactly whats going on
The doc said I could introduce cottage cheese so I did. It went down fine, felt fine. Had a little more later on....felt full...stopped eating. Took some pain meds for my back, and of course its liquid....swallowed it and right after it was like a burning sensation in my pouch and beyond. No im a little freaked out...is it possible to spring a leak 14days out? Im sweating and shaking and im nauseated...this hasnt happened before and I have NO idea whats going on. Does anyone know exactly what a leak feels like?

Topic: RE: Unflavored Protein???
I had the same issue with protein powders. My doc said to try the already mixed protein drinks like muscle milk and OH YEAH! I like OH YEAH! you cant really taste any protein. I get them from vitamin shoppe and they are a bit more expensive but I was at a loss as to what to do. I think a case of 12 is like 35.99. I only hopefully need them for another week or two then on to pureed foods where I can get my protein. Good luck in your search

Topic: RE: Vitamins made easy
No I totally understand you are not saying not to take it. You actually told me something I didnt know. I had no idea it was an optional vit. or one to take when something like that is low. I honestly can NOT stomach the liquid. I dont know if you have ever smelled or tasted it but it is just wrong. I will definitely take a pill or something...just to feel like im doing the right thing. I am on top of my multivitamin...its just my calcium I have an issue with lol. Thank you for all the advice!!!

Topic: RE: How long does it take you to eat??
LOL that is probably true! I cant wait til I can eat real foods. Im usually a talker when I eat so i always finished last at the table.

Topic: RE: Hunger
I get hunger but its completely different from before. I dont get that gnawing feeling that im going to be sick like before surgery. now its just like an empty feeling with a little strange feeling. Nothing I cant ignore. But its actually just shown up recently so im dealing with it. The head hunger is a whole different story.....My mind is begging me for a chicken sandwich...You just have to be stronger then that thoughts!

Topic: RE: Prilosec????
Mine has gone away....thank goodness! since there is little stomach acid I would think thats why

Topic: RE: How long does it take you to eat??
I drink milk all the time and have no issues. Maybe it was a freak thing.

Topic: RE: How long does it take you to eat??
Unfortunately I do. I had a syntrax nectar protein shake last week and dumped from it. NO idea as to why since there is no sugar and I mixed it with fat free milk like always. I had all the signs of dumping syndrome and the doc agreed. So now im stuck with a bag and half of samples and im afraid to use them lol

Topic: RE: How long does it take you to eat??
exactly! Im like what do I do...stare at it? I take breaks in between and still cant accompli**** Since im not having any issues with dumping from eating to fast...maybe I shouldnt worry about it. Maybe its just early out or for frequent dumpers.....Idk. I get dumping syndrome but not from eating.

Topic: RE: Prilosec????
Mine never said that. I was on prilosec for months before surgery for severe acid reflux. When I got home I tried to pop open a capsule and mix it cause I thought I needed them. Called the doc and they said Pepcid complete chewables were fine. I have to take them 2x a day for 3mos. Not sure why they told him that I never heard it..but everyone is different

Topic: RE: How long does it take you to eat??
I know we are supposed to take 30mins to eat our meals/shakes. Yet I can not manage this task...I have tried and tried and tried. I can drink an 8oz glass of water in less then an hour and YES I sip it! My doc says as long as it doesnt hurt its ok....I take 1/4c pudding and it doesnt last more then 10mins and I use a baby spoon and take little bites. What am I doing wrong? I dont get any pain or dumping from it and I dont eat more than my allowed amount. What are some things that I can do to make it stretch longer? Does it really even matter or am I stressing about nothing?

Topic: RE: Do any of you forget to eat?
Im guilty of this and I dont intentionally do it. Sometimes I get busy and run around and then sometimes I feel like utter crap. This is probably why I havent lost any weight in the last week or so....I also used to not eat to lose weight(which never works mostly) and I guess I just dont think about it. I used to eat once a day pre-surgery. So for me that was normal...and my metabolism never kicked in. I will definitely be setting my alarms to eat something every 3 hours.....that just totally opened my eyes. Thanks for asking the question
