Topic: RE: Wow it's been a wild ride, best time of my life!

Hi everyone!
Its been a long time since I have checked in! I miss everyone! I first off want to say I LOVE my gastric bypass! I feel amazing and have lost 100 lbs since my highest weight, and 80 lbs since surgery (6/26/12).
Wow, its been crazy, ups and downs and all arounds, but I think I am finally getting used to this new lifestyle.

Have had some issues lately though...I haven't lost ANY weight since Decemeber 8th....WTH?! I know holidays were near, but I mean, cmon, I can hardly eat, and I avoid carbs almost completly. Could be a plateu??

I have learned so much about myself through this adventure, and have made it through many mental challenges.(head hunger :)

Hope to hear from everyone, and see how everyone is doing!

I am about 2 and a half weeks post op. I went back to work Wednesday and feel exhausted...(i work in medical office so no strenuous activities) i really want to start exercise program (mma and kick boxing) but i am so tired and still feel swollen and painful in my abdomen. doc says whenever i feel ready....so my question to you all is When did you feel back to normal? i also get weird little twinge pains on y sides and abdomen often...when to those go away?

Topic: RE: Question for ALL post-ops!!!
I am 9 days post op. i went in weighing 260...i came home from surgery weighing 272. Today i weighed 253. so 19lbs in 9 days but only 7 pounds since preop weight...one thing i have seen is we all are so unique at our losing rates. i will not compare myself to other people.

Topic: RE: 6 days until surgery and a hairloss question.
I am 6 days away from surgery! I have been feeling scared and anxious and excited and happy. I have been on the liquid diet for 15 days and have lost 15 pounds. Hope that my after surgery my weight loss goes this fast! LOL.
I was wondering if anyone had any input on taking Biotin to reduce hair loss after surgery. In my preop class the other day, a girl had mentioned this and I was interested in buying some, but wanted to check with you guys first to see if you had any experience with this or any other advice on how to minimize hair loss!
Thanks you guys!

Topic: RE: update on milk diet
I won't be having the same diet after surgery. I will be on a regular full liquid diet. not just milk and water

Topic: RE: update on milk diet
I have completed 1 week on the milk diet. I saw my surgeon yesterday and had lost 12 pounds... it has gotten a little easier but my surgeon says she wants me to lose a little slower so has put me on some protein shakes in the evening. I just wanted to thank everyone on here for being my support group through all of this. 14 days till surgery.. the day I truly thought would never come.

We will be your support group.  We all want you to get through this and don't beat yourself up over the cottage cheese.  Have plenty of different flavored sf popsicles and sf jello on hand.  I wish there was some people out there that has been on this.  Can you call your surgeon and ask if you can hook up on the phone or email or here that is another patient of hers that is going through this right now?  There has to be others out there.  Keep in touch, vent do whatever you have to do, we will be here for you.  Take Care.  Jane

3 weeks, but yeah, she just states that it will shrink fat around the liver. There are no support groups in my area, I live in a pretty rural part of southern WA. Surgeons are SOO different. I did a little research and apparently this diet is used widely in the UK preop.

Topic: RE: New to this site, pre op diet starts Sunday and surgery scheduled for 6/25

YAY for your surgery date! Its really close to mine, and I started my pre op diet 2 days ago! Good Luck, we will be there soon!

Topic: RE: liquid diet pre-op
So many people have told me they have never heard of it before....Its actually making it worse. Anybody wnat to share what their liquid diet consisted of? I ate some cottage cheese a little bit ago, I couldn't help myself and now i feel like I have cheated, and feel horrible.
