Topic: RE: Still Throwing up after 10 weeks

Call your surgeon today because vomiting is not normal if your food is chewed well. You may have a stricture.

Topic: RE: Should have listened to the doctor's advise...

I gained 12 pounds from the IVs in the hospital. It comes off quickly but stay off the scale for now.

Topic: RE: Half my weight.

Your hard work is paying off. Congratulations!

Topic: RE: Food Talk: When were you able to??

I had part of a turkey burger with cheese but no bun and about 10 sweet potato fries. I needed some carbs because I walked a 5 k today. I had surgery about 8 months ago and have had only 2 tiny bites of pasta just this week. By the way it felt like a sponge in my pouch so I will be staying away from that! Your focus needs to be protein if you want to get to goal and stay there.

Topic: RE: teeny post-op NSV

Soon you will be so active others won't be able to keep up! That's not a small victory at all. Congratulations!

Topic: RE: First NSV

Time to buy a belt my dear! I found one at Walmart that has a double holes all the way along it so it is totally adjustable. I've cut bit off several times as I have lost weight and it works great. Congratulations on the first of many victories!

Topic: RE: What do u drink?

I like the Mio and Dasani drops because I can add as much or as little as I want each day as my tastes change frequently. There are lots of flavors to choose from. My current favorite is the pineapple coconut.

Topic: RE: I am 6 weeks post op and i have lost weight but feel like it's not enough?

You are doing just fine. You have lost an average of 4 pounds a week. When have you ever done that before? Average weight loss is 3 to 5 pounds a week so you are doing great! Just keep following your surgeon's plan, getting protein and fluids in and you will succeed. And stay off the scale! Once a week on the weighing really leads to much less frustration.

Topic: RE: What would you do?

Just remember that if you are adding processed carbs like crackers, rice, pasta and potatoes then when you start your pre op diet you will be craving the same carbs and not able to have them. And any weight you add you will then have to lose. I would stick with moderation if I were you.

Topic: RE: Going to Cracker Barrel tonight.......any suggestions?

The chicken is a good idea but I would skip the potatoes and go with the green beans. The chicken is really tender! Have fun!

Topic: RE: i can't stop eating

You have taken the first step by admitting you have a problem and seeking some help. Now take the next step. I agree with the other poster that some counseling would be a great idea. I have worked with one in the past and it really helped me get a grasp on what I was thinking and why I was acting the way I was. A lot of this journey really is in our minds. Also journaling has helped me. When I want to eat but shouldn't be hungry I will write about the thoughts going through my mind. Also I suspect if you are craving carbs it's because you are eating too many of them. Cut out the bread, pasta, crackers, etc and in a few days you will feel better. The only carbs I eat come from dairy, fruits and rarely veggies. I feel much better without them and don't crave them anymore either! If food left on your plate bothers you, when you get full then scrape the plate into the trash. You have the tool you need to win this battle and become the healthy person you deserve to be but it's all up to you. Only you can make the choices to help you succeed. Keep us posted.

Topic: RE: 15 days post op - I survived

With that attitude,Susan, you will be at goal before you know it! Way to go!

Topic: RE: About 10 months post-op...never care if I eat

I too never get hungry but because my metabolism has always been messed up I make sure to eat anyway. It has helped me to lose my weight fairly quickly.

Topic: RE: A question about the clothes...and my first NSV

I have bought very few things new and all my pants have come from goodwill. My husband is certainly glad that I can buy lots of clothes for 30 dollars there. Invest in a belt too. I never wore one before either but found one that holes from one end to the other. It's pretty and totally adjustable. I got it at Walmart and I've cut it off several times as I've gone down in sizes.

Topic: RE: Never ever ANY ice cream, even a dab, ever again?

How could we be angry with you Larry. I have the same attitude about breads and pasta Larry. I know those two foods are triggers for me and I can't eat them without eating too much. So I stay away. I also dump so ice cream and cake are out for me too. But I feel so great now I don't even miss them!

Topic: RE: I did it!

Thirty three weeks ago I had gastric bypass surgery. Inam thankful every day for my doctor and all his support staff. I started my journey at 258.5 pounds. I had uncontrolled blood pressure on three pills, blood sugars in the 180s and felt like I would die when I went down a flight of stairs. Day of surgery I weighed 253. Thirty three weeks later I am at my goal weight of 145, my blood sugar is normal and my blood pressure is great on one low dose pill. And best of all I can walk and walk and not get short of breath. Tomorrow  I walk my second 5k and can't wait. I did this by following my doctor's plan, getting my protein in,exercising almost daily, and getting lots of fluids. I have changed my diet and eat no processed carbs and exercise an amount each day that I can maintain for life. I have done it and you can too--one choice at a time! Have a great weekend.

Topic: RE: YES, YES, YES..you guys were right!!!!

You will be amazed at how fast your sizes change. I went to goodwill today and bought some shirts for cooler weather size small and they all fit beautifully. I never thought the word small and me would ever be connected when it came to clothing. What an amazing journey!

Topic: RE: Had to get a new swimsuit! Pics inside

Love the swimsuit! And your son is quite the cutie! The stomach fat was last to go for me too. I am about a pound away from my goal and it is finally almost gone. Trust me-it will happen! Hang in there.

I did well with grilled fish and with shrimp early out. I also loved hummus and refried beans with cheese and salsa.
