Topic: RE: Sip, sip, sip... Forever?

I was able to drink normal within the first month.  Also, I loved ice water right after surgery vs room temp.  The only hot drink I enjoyed was protein hot chocolate.

Topic: RE: Shower about did me in

I had an open surgery for RNY with a lap band removal.  Also, had cysts removed for biopsy and gallbladder removed.  I felt I did well post op as far as healing but the fatigue was an issue.  It was several weeks before I could shower and not feel worn out afterwards.  The daily walks were also exhausting.  All that is behind me but I continue to have a lot of fatigue that I attribute to having fibromyalgia and arthritis.  Still life is so much better weighing half what I did preop.

I was given a medication for it so it didn't take long to clear up.  I don't remember what I was prescribed.

Topic: RE: Clothes ideas?!

I donated at least 50 large leaf and lawn bags full of great clothes and used the donations as a tax write off.  Don't know if this will be a tax option next year.   I had size 18 to 24 in my closet so was good going down in size till I hit below the 18 and then started buying a few items off sale racks to get me by.   I made the mistake when I reached size 14 thinking I was at goal and bought some clothes that are now packed away in case I gain wt.  I see people post that once they hit the bottom wt that there is often a bounce back wt of 15 to 20 pounds so I am ready for that should it happen.  I've been in size 10/12 for several months so have a new closet full of clothes.  Again, I've watched sales and sale racks for  most of the new things.    I've even purchased some nice things on EBAY.  I've never shopped at Goodwill but know several that have found good buys.  I did check out some resale shops but I personally felt the clothes were over priced.   I did better hitting sales in department stores.  One of my friends has time to hit garage sales and she has found some nice reasonably priced items.  Although not an option here, some towns have wt loss support groups that have a clothes closet exchange.  I don't sew but got quotes on what it would cost to alter the more expensive clothes and decided it wasn't worth it for myself.   Enjoy your journey!

Topic: RE: Question..... Help please

I have diverticulitis.  Actually, it is fairly common the older one gets.  I also have Chron's disease.  My digestive issues have been much better since surgery.  I believe eating small protein first meals agrees with my digestive system.  I had both health issues long before having WLS.

Topic: RE: 115 pounds lost..I'm excited..but still nervous

Congrats on your wt loss.   And, I know exactly where you are coming from with the fear of regain.  I am almost 15 mos post op and do not want to regain.  I have friends going back to 1991 that had WLS and are doing fine.  But, it's the friends that have gained all the wt back that keep me on track because I do not want to be in their shoes.

I had fine thin hair to begin with so the additional hair loss was not good.  My hair loss did stop although I can't tell you when.  I am almost 15 mos postop and have not seen any new hair growth.  I read on OH where some say they did have new hairs come back so I hope I eventually will as well.

Topic: RE: Protein slider? is it any good for us?

I love this yogurt and use it almost daily.  Fruit in it makes me feel full longer.  Right now my favorite thing to do is add fresh cut up mango to it.  I also boost it with unflavored protein powder and it certainly helps me get in more protein each day.  So does protein drinks.  I mix unflavored protein into lactose fat free chocolate milk as I'm not a big fan of most brands of protein flavored shakes.

Topic: RE: 60 pounds lost but still in same size pants and frustrated

I didn't change that first size for awhile and once I did the sizes started changing faster than expected so I did waste money buying a couple of sizes in slacks and wearing them once or twice.  Some I could take back because they had tags on them and I had receipts.   I also skipped a size so don't be disheartened at this point.  Just trust it is going to happen.

Topic: RE: New to forum

I also had problems with protein drinks early out but drink one a day now.   I also put a scoop of unflavored protein  in anything that I can to boost the protein intake.  I buy a lactose free chocolate low fat milk that has 12 gms of protein per cup so adding the scoop gets it to 22 gms.  I actually love it in Dannon Light and Fit Vanilla Greek yogurt that I add some fresh fruit to.  I hated Greek yogurt until finding this one.  As far as surgery to remove the excess stomach skin, it all depends on your insurance company.  I suggest you contact your WLS and ask.  My insurance will only do surgery if there are serious rashes recorded, etc.  I don't have enough excess to qualify with mine but would love to have what I do have removed.  You are doing great by the way.

Topic: RE: Huma Pro drinks and tablets

I continue to be tired physically but mentally feet great.  Doesn't matter that I get the protein, water and vitamins in.  I was tired before I gained the wt so didn't really expect to feel any different but there was always that hope.  Fibromyalgia is what it is and I guess I'll always have to deal with it.   I tried to get an exercise routine going but the knees can't take it so I'm not doing anything other than what I do around the house.  I'm going to start walking again and see how things go.   I am wearing 10/12 misses and will do my best to stay here now that I have replaced my wardrobe.

The company sells a protein drink and protein pills.  I've not tried them but someone told me about them as they are using the product.  I've never heard of it and am trying to figure out it it is a trusted protein product.

Topic: RE: How come ?? This makes NO sense to me !!!

I had horrible back and shoulder pain prior and after surgery.  I am much better since being treated for ruptured disc.   The lower back ruptured disc was also causing sciatica down the leg.  It took about a year of back injections until it healed.  Although, the sciatica does act up on occasion.

Topic: RE: Another Vitamin Question, sorry !!

Doesn't Centrum make an adult chewable multi?  Early out I used Celebrate but they are not cheap.  I see a lot of people buy through VitaLady and I just recieved my D3 from her.   I don't use any chewable now as I can easily swallow vitamins.  Many just swallow the regular pill form from day one.  I suggest you not buy to many as you may not need chewables for long.   I was sorry that I bought a six month supply of chewables.  My B12 is sublingual and you can get that from health food stores and some grocery stores with a good pharmacy area.  Although, I do order mine from Celebrate.
