Topic: RE: WLS STATS...
Months from your first consultation to surgery date: 3 months
Starting weight at surgery:  247
Weight now:  118
How many months out are you:  22 months
Name one positive and one negative from your experience:
Positive =  I feel like I'm the person I'm meant to be.  No more high blood pressure, no more pre-diabetic.  I'm happier in general making me a better wife , mother and person.
Negative =  Planning ahead.  Reminding myself that I did this for health reasons not allowing myself to get lazy.  Making sure I get all my calories, protein, water in.  But I'll take it.

Wow 2014 well......

I will be 47 years old and the mother of a 30, 25, and 16 year old.  Hopefully a grandmother (can't believe I just typed that) my 25 year old daughter is getting married in June.  I will be maintaining the same weight I am now 130lbs.  Still health conscious, eating right and exercising.  Still employed at my current job.  Hopefully my house has sold by then and I am now living in a new house closer to my work.  Most importantly loving life and all it has to offer.

I also had UHC I had my primary write a letter just stating that weight has been a issue since he has been seeing me and that I would benefit (from having high blood pressure) from WLS surgery I was approved within a month.  Good luck.

Jeanne,
I am just over a year out.  I started at 237 lbs and I am now 135 lbs I would 100 % do this again in a heartbeat.  I am just going into my maintenance phase so sorry can't help you long term however I believe if you do the things you are suppose to and live a healthy life with will keep the weight off.  Good luck to you.

Hang in there, think positive and do all the right things.  Exercise, get your fluids in, take your vitamins, get in the proper amount of protein and you will be just fine.  Good luck.

You give new meaning to the words what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.  Thank you for this post and reminding us of all the people still suffering.  I can't even imagine having to tell my children that are home is gone.  I'm so glad you had the courage to pick yourself up and start a new life and that your family is better off for it.

That I was big boned, I was just big.  I also just thought heels weren't meant for my feet however now I wear them all the time and they feel great.

Topic: RE: RNY'ers that are MAINTAINING - Check-In!

Crystal,
I am soooooo glad its Friday.  Woke up this morning with a horrible sore throat.  Thanks to my son no doubt.

I finally feel like I can officially post on here now.  I am checking in at 136 today.  I also lost 2 pds this week.  I upped my calories by 100 this week so I guess I should up them again.

Nothing exciting going on this weekend just going to try to kick this cough and sore throat.

Have a great weekend everyone.

~Janet

Topic: RE: So, really, what if this doesn't work?
Your doing great.  Keep doing the right things. (Exercise, drinking your water, getting in all your protein, taking your vitamins.)  Don't stress over something that has not happened.  37 lbs in that short amount of time is nothing to sneeze at.  So keep up the good work and keep plugging along and i bet you will be just fine.  Hang in there I know at your stage it feels like the weight just can't come off fast enough.  But for me anyway the year just flew by.  Good luck and keep us posted.

237 lbs pre-op                                                                        137 lbs post-op 1 year

Topic: RE: Attention newbies! Your appetite will probably come back...

My hunger came back with a vengeance right at the 6 month mark.  Its funny though some days I can eat more than others but no where near the amount pre-op.

Topic: RE: Please Pray That I get Approved for My RNY!!
My insurance company just wanted a letter from my doctor saying weight has been an issue for me and that due to my high blood pressure I would benefit from WLS.  However up until the morning of my surgery I was on pins and needles praying it would go through.  Sending prayers your way now.
