Topic: RE: Is this medication safe?
Can anyone tell me if it's safe to take medication called Meclizine(antivert, d-vert,Dramamine II, univert, vertin)??? It's for vertigo. I am almost 8 months post op.
Topic: RE: Depression
I appreciate all of the responses. I have no money for co-pay and already owe my dr money so I doubt he will see me. I'm just scared. I can't quit crying. I have only had a few ounces to drink and I can't stay out of the bathroom for crapping myself to death. I can't afford another hospital bill. Know of any other options? Thanks!
Topic: RE: Depression
For those of you that have went through depression and thoughts of wanting to end it all did you seek help? If so who did you start with? Surgeon? Therapist? I'm at the end of my rope and can't take anymore. My husband and I are about to lose everything and it's got me so down. More than I already was. I can't eat, drink, sleep or anything. I just want it all to go away and I don't see that happening while I'm still on earth breathing. :(
Topic: RE: Tips for hospital stay and after care
I agree with the Chapstick. This also made sound corny but I used a sippy cup after surgery to avoid gulping since my mouth was so dry. I also made a bed on the couch because I could not lay on my bed. So that may be something you want to get ready before you go. Don't buy expensive drinks for afterwards because taste changes. Cold water after surgery made my stomach spasm. Surgeon said that is something some people have to avoid after surgery. Good luck :)
Topic: RE: Camping
Ok guys! I'm getting ready to go camping with my hubby for our six year wedding anniversary. I will be 4 months post op on the 20th. I am currently eating eggs, turkey sausage, chicken deli meat, 96% lean burger, ground chicken etc... My question is what are some foods/meals that I could pack. I'll be camping for 4 nights. It's going to be really hard not eating the usual hot dogs and s'mores because they are so convenient and traditional. I'm just worried about being away from home with limited storage for food. We will have coolers just wondering if anyone else has been camping after RNY and what you ate. Thanks!
Topic: RE: Who asked for their opinion anyways!!!!
I agree! I am 3 months post op and I had to remove "family" from my life for being more negative than positive. Trust me after surgery you won't want that type of crap in your life. Good luck. :)
Topic: RE: dinner ideas?
My hubby and I make grilled ground chicken and veggie packs on the grill. Take a piece of foil and spray lightly with Pam non stick spray. Then take ground chicken of meat of choice and spread onto foil. Take your favorite veggies(we do carrots, green beans etc) and spread them over the meat. Season with mrs dash seasoning and wrap the foil up into like a pouch. Put on grill until meat is done.
Topic: RE: frusterating!!
If you are having troubles with whole foods I would slowly add them. Go back to your puréed food for a day then each day gradually introduce the whole foods. It could just be too much for your pouch right now. I was that way with protein shakes. They were way too much for me. I never had trouble with whole food. Just take it slow. Each person is different. :)
Topic: RE: Bone / Joint Pain???
Funny I'm reading this while I too am in excruciating hip pain. I am crawling out of my skin it hurts so bad. I'm almost 3 months out and around 70 pounds down. Thinking I may go to chiropractor. Good luck!
Topic: RE: OT I Lost My Dog Today X Post

Topic: RE: Goodbye 300's and don't ya come back no more
Thank you. My goal is to also be in the 100's I don't care if it's 199 lol. Good luck with your surgery. My advice is to not dwell on what could go wrong or has gone wrong and focus on what has went right or will go right. A positive outlook will take you farther in your journey. Listen to your body and your surgeon! Support group is also important. They have been such a big help to me. :) good luck!
Topic: RE: Surgery tomorrow

Topic: RE: PCOS after RNY... can we talk?
I have PCOS and haven't had a real period in years unless I took probers to start one. I am down 58 pounds from surgery and I still haven't had a period. I'm definitely going to ask my surgeon when I might see a sign of one. Anyone else ever experience that? I hate PCOS.
Topic: RE: Goodbye 300's and don't ya come back no more
I just weighed in at 299 this morning. What a way to start the month of May. My surgery was on 2/20/2012 and I'm down 58 pounds. Super exciting! Couldn't have done it with all of the support and posts on here so thank you :)
Topic: RE: What is wrong with me
Thank you all so much!! You all told me what I needed to hear. I appreciate the support!
Topic: RE: What is wrong with me
Ok so I'm just going to get straight to the point I had my surgery on 2/20 and was hardcore strict to the diet and I still am pretty much except for snacks in between meals. I just keep wanting to eat my husbands corn chips and pretzels with natural peanut butter on them. I don't want to ruin my blessing(surgery) I fought so hard to get where I'm at. I'm down 54 pounds and you would think that would be motivating me enough to keep going and stay away from CRAP that got me in this mess. Please tell me of a way to retrain my thinking. I eat the chips and pretzels out of boredom and they don't sit all that great in my pouch. That feeling hasn't stopped me though. I've had some family issues going that have really brung me down and I know I eat for comfort sometimes. Any advice would be appreciated. The chips and pretzels are going out of this house NOW. Please don't bash or leave harsh comments because I really am trying to do better.
Topic: RE: Aunt Flo???/ Is that you knocking or playing ring and run???
Aunt flo keeps doing same to me. It's a good sign for me because I have PCOS and before surgery I couldn't even get a tiny bit of spotting to save my life. My surgery was on 2/20 and I'm down 53 pounds. I'm hoping I actually get a period going.
Topic: RE: anger & regret
I read your surgery date wrong. Mine was in february. So give yourself just a little but more time to start feeling a little better.
Topic: RE: anger & regret
Hey sweety! Just wanted to tell you I had my surgery 7 days before you and I can tell you that I don't think your symptoms are normal. I had those symptoms during my first couple of weeks and my surgeon wanted to check for a structure. Sounds like you may be dealing with the same thing. I didn't have to have one because my symptoms got better.  call your surgeon ASAP. Getting dehydrated can cause more problems on top of the others. I have PCOS too. I totally understand. It will be worth it once you start to feel better! Good luck!
Topic: RE: Surgery Approved!!!
Congrats and good luck! See you on the losers bench!
Topic: RE: RNY on 4/11; still in pain; no pain meds left!
I can't believe that's all they have you. I'm so sorry. When I had mine I was sent home with a bottle and still have a bottle of pain meds waiting on me at the pharmacy. I had my surgery on 2/20. I haven't had to take any since week 2 post op but man am I glad I have a back up. If I were you I'd call the hospital and have them page the surgeon on call and explain your situation. They should be able to call you something in. Good luck!
