Topic: RE: home from revision
Glad you're back home! Congrats on the revision! I hope your recovery continues to go well and the gas works it's way out. Remember to walk!

Topic: RE: Am I jumping the gun?
I am so thankful that you posted! I had surgery the same day you did and have only lost 8 pounds! Like you, I'm getting my protein in, getting my liquids in, and walking twice per day. I simply am not dropping the pounds like others on here. I see the 20 pounds lost in a week or 2 and I think that I must be broken!

I know I didn't provide any golden nugget of wisdom for you, but at least we're not alone!

Let's keep in touch!

Topic: RE: Conversion from Band to RN-Y
I had the band in 2006 and this past Monday I was converted from band to gastric bypass. I feel great about my decision and am doing really well in my post-op process. Let me know what questions you may have.

Topic: RE: Feeling Anxious !
Lissy, I know how you feel, my surgery was this past Monday and I did not sleep at all the night before. I stayed up the entire night because I was so anxious.

I did have complications arise but you know what, I was in great hands, they knew exactly how to handle everything, now I'm 6 days post-op and doing GREAT!

You will do wonderfully!

Topic: RE: day 3 liq. diet
Smaller Annie-you don't have a stomach flu! Or if you do, I do too and I'm on the clear liquids at this time also! It just messes with your digestion!

Topic: RE: Anyone??? Lapband to gastric
My insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Yes, the surgeon agreed with the revision. He is the one who wrote the letter to the insurance company asking for approval to do the revision. He'd completed an ECD (?) procedure and discovered that my stomach was being damaged by the band, my esophagus was also being damaged, as well as the fact that the band had slipped. After he completed the ECD (Maybe it was EGD?) procedure, he wrote the letter to the insurance.

My BMI was nearly 37. It's since dropped to 36 but when I began the process it was 37.

Topic: RE: Anyone??? Lapband to gastric
I had the LapBand and just this past Monday I went through revision to RNY. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, and high tryglicerides (spelling?). I will tell you that I can already say having the revision is THE BEST decision I could have made. I have not thrown up one time since the surgery. With the LapBand I was throwing up EVERY day, I was so sick and tired of throwing up. Now, I feel great!
Let me know if you have any questions about the process I went through.

Topic: RE: OUT OF SURGERY
Are you walking plenty? My surgeon's suggestion was to walk the length of the hospital's hallway every hour. Now that I'm home, I walked about the same, steadily increasing my distance each day but keeping to a walk every 1.5-2 hours. That's helped me tremendously.

Topic: RE: I feel better now...
We CAN do this! I'm on Day 3 of clear liquids. My doctor has instructed me that I will do three full weeks of clear liquids due to the revision I had. I had the LapBand removed (it had grown into the stomach and liver), the gall bladder removed, and the gastric bypass performed. So, I was surprised for him to give me instructions of THREE WEEKS of CLEAR Liquids but he did say that this time of the process is about healing and making sure I have a healthy pouch. I want the long-term healthy pouch so I'll do the three weeks of clears!

We CAN do this!

Topic: RE: night before surgery jitters
I have surgery in 10 hours! I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonight at all! I like the idea of journaling why I'm doing this to remind myself of the big bold dreams I have!
