Weight Loss Surgery Directory

almost 5 months out and finally doing better

Hey everybody. So i wanted to give everyone an update. Some of you guys were very caring and suportive when I was struggling. I wanted to say thank you and say that I am getting better. I have been the same weight for a month so that is good. I was scared I would not stop losing. Kind of wasnt expecting to almost be at goal in 4 months but I was. I would like to lose 10 more lbs but not in a rush. I am still vomiting. I dont think a day has passed since surgery without throwing up. But it it down to 3-8 times a day instead of 15-20 times a day. So it is better. I still really cant tolerate meat, fruit, vegetables. I try to stick to greek yogurt, tuna, eggplant caponata. And I can do okay with crunchy things. The dreaded slider foods lol. But for me 2 wheat thins with tuna is a meal. Am I thrilled I did this that I cant say. I love the weight loss and feeling so much better about myself but I hate the throwing up. I had 7 stomach dilations to get to this point and still may do some more in hopes of stopping the vomiting. Hope everyone has a good day and thanks for the prayers everyone.

That's awesome to hear that you are feeling better!  But vomiting at this point is still worrisome, especially since its 3-8x per day.  I'm not too familiar with stomach dilation...how did it develop, and whats the treatment for it?  Which surgeon did you go to?  I hope that your situation steadily improves to tolerate food better without the vomiting.

Stay motivated and encouraged!

stomach dilation is a stomach streching procedure.

I am so glad you're feeling better.  Sending good thoughts your way...

Thanks for the update.  I'm sending my support & hope that you continue to improve.  Have you gotten any information about why this has happened?  Are you able to function at a level that you'd like to?  I see two kids in your picture, and I know how much work momming is.  Take care, and best best wishes for a 2012 of health and happiness.

I'm going to pray specifically that the vomiting stops.  What your physician can't do, God can.  Best wishes.

Just a thought - have you gotten a second opinion? I don't really know anything about your history other than what you state but I know some surgeons are more experienced with difficult rivisions than others. I know that once there is scar tissue from the band, revision can be difficult (hence your complications) and now you may be faced with a second revision -I'd want to make sure I at least consulted with a very experienced revision surgeon.

Good luck, wishing you the best.
