hello everyone,
my doctor said the procedure was 45 minutes but the nurse practitioner said it was 3 hours. i wonder if she was including anestesia, surgery and recovery.  3 hours seems like a long time for laproscopic surgery right?

My procedure took 1hr and 10 mins....but that included removing an unexpected hernia.  I arrived at the hospital at 7:45 am....went into surgery at 10:15 am was done by 11:30 and was in my room by 2:00 pm.  You have to have all the prep done when you get there. If they offer a sedative to calm your nerves...take it.  Best of luck to you!!

Same here, my procedure took like an hour and 20 minutes because of an unexpected hernia as well.

I was taken back for surgery at 7:35am and the doc came out at 9:30 to tell my wife that I was ok.....so I would say it was between 60-90 mins for the actual surgery part.

The last time I saw the clock right before I got put out was 4:30 pm and I was back in my room totally awake at 7pm.

If you have the stomach which you still do!   Go to UTube verticle sleeve and you can watch the surgery being done in 3min. Very interesting!

Mine took about 45 minutes or so... but im not including the time spent in pre-op waiting or the waking up time after. Just the surgery itself with no complications. My surgeon advised it could take a little longer since I have significant adhesions but apparently he was able to work around them just fine.

You're right. I am sure that included all the prep work and recovery. It really doen't matter, becaue the first day you'll be sleeping.

I think the nurse is telling you the times that your family will be there waiting and worrying etc, the surgeon is giving you the time he is dealing with you.

The procedure is very fast - but all the prep and recovery time really add to the "experience".  Good news is, you will be totally unaware of all of it!
