No, no, not in weight.

When I was younger, I measured 5'9" tall. That was just the height I always said I was. Then about 5 years ago my doc measured me and I was barely over 5'8" tall. I was shocked - how could I have had my height wrong all these years?

Turns out maybe I didn't. Either I wasn't standing up straight (I've been working on posture and my core a LOT lately) or that almost-150 lbs was weighing me down.

This morning at the doctor's office, I measured 5'9" again. The nurse checked me at two different scale/measurement stations and we got the same thing.

Woohoo!!!

YAY! that's awesome to hear! Working your core and posture probably has a lot to do with it

That is really cool!  Did it change your BMI calculation?

And it might explain my own loss of 1/2 inch from what I thought my height was since high school.

Work on your core and posture.

I discovered right after surgery that my back muscles were wimps. I had back spasms because they had to take a little of the load while my abdominal muscles healed. Actually went to physical therapy a couple of times to learn some core strengthening exercises.

I now carry myself very straight and tall; I started doing it consciously as part of my core work, but now it has become unconscious.

Embarrassing to think I was slouching that much!!

It did change my BMI, but not a lot. Less than a point.

THAT IS AWESOME!  I've shrunk as I added weight through the years. I hope to regain the inch I lost too! I've always chalked it up to so much flab between my thighs that my legs weren't straight up & down like they used to be!

ROFLOL  I can't believe this is the first post I read this morning because I had something similar happen to me at the dr yesterday. Went for my monthly weigh-in for my pre-surgery insurance mandated diet check and the dr.'s office is changing to computers and they have to do height checks for everyone. I've always said I was 5' 6" because many years ago, the last time anyone checked my height that's what it was. Yesterday the nurse tells me I'm 5' 5.5" and I asked how in the heck I could've shrunk a half inch in the past 10 years or so-I know I was standing up as tall as I could! The Dr. said it could be the weight I've gained over that time period that is pulling down on my spine and hips. So not only do I look forward to losing more weight when I get sleeved but also getting my height back too! Another plus to add to my list. Thanks for the post! I don't feel so alone now!

Congratulations for finding your lost inch!

My mother was 5' 12" (her words, not mine), and I always wanted to be tall like her.  At 5'6" I was the shortest person in my family.  Sigh.

Then at my surgery consult, they said I was really 5'5.5"  Double sigh.  I hope I find my lost half inch.  It meant a lot to me!!

Yeah, my grandmother (Dad's mom) was 5'13" so I know that way of looking at it.

Edit to add: Grandpa was a little over 5'10" so she towered over him. Any time they took pictures either she'd sit down or he'd stand on a curb or something.

DARN....I got excited about this post. I have gone from 5.5 1/2" to 5.4". I just had someone measure my height and mine has not changed. Well, actually the last time I measured (yrs ago) I was 5.4 1/2. Now I have lost another 1/2".

Congrats to you though!
