Well tried the other two flavors lemon cream pie and chocolate peanut butter. The lemon cream pie was yummy and the chocolate peanut butter was yucky. It tasted like a typical yuck protein bar.

Anyway - I will not be purchasing anymore and these are my reasons. First and foremost for me they do not fill me up and don't keep me satisfied for very long. They seem to be a trigger food for me that makes me hungry for my next meal. Last but not least they are a slider for me. I shamefully ate more than one and it fit just fine.

For many these bars are yummy and about the most healthy natural bars you can buy. They are just not a good fit for me.

I feel much more satisfied with a good almond milk Jay robb protein shake. But that's just me. Maybe these bars were just too desertish for me.

I think these bars have their place in the VSG world. I personally wouldn't make a daily habit of them but that's just me. They are a much better choice than a candy bar, but not as good a choice as a protein shake in my opinion.
My love affair with these heavenly nuggets of joy has come to an end. Bye Bye my friend!

I know the feeling- I have to buy protein bars one at a time, just now and then.  Otherwise I'd eat too many of even the yucky ones... sweets still have a hold on me, and protein bars are just healthier treats for the most part.

Good for you for recognizing it and ending the affair.  :)

What was your overall favorite flavors, or were they all good? I've been reading your reviews. I was most interested in the Strawberry cheesecake but I see it's more like just strawberry. I think I would like the lemon one and maybe the almond crunch one? I will have to be careful and make sure it's not a trigger for me.

For a second opinion, here's a ranking I made as a comment in a previous post. Note - I can't even eat one bar, just a half at a time, and I use it as a fiber supplement as well. Half a bar keeps me as full as any other mid-morning snack.

My rankings, FWIW, on a scale of 0 to 5 stars:

Original Line:
***** Chocolate Brownie
**** Mixed Berry Bliss
**** Peanut Butter Supreme
*** Vanilla Almond Crunch
*** Peanut Butter & Jelly
** Apple Pie

Natural Line:
***** Cinnamon Roll
***** Lemon Cream Pie
**** Strawberry Cheesecake
** Chocolate Peanut Butter
** Coconut Cashew

All time high 335 lbs. Goal in 9 1/2 months post-op, 11 including pre-op diet.

So sorry these don't work for you. I absolutely love them and they are great in a pinch when you are on the go.  I can only eat half at a time.  I once ate the whole bar and I was in so much pain and ready to  so I will never push my limits again.  I just ordered me a box of PB&J since I just finished my box of Coconut Cashew.  Kerry

I like Quest bars for many reasons,  however some of the flavors I'm not so crazy about, such as peanut butter.  On that note, I eat only half a bar and include it as part of a meal.  Sometimes I'm looking for something sweet a few hours after dinner and half a quest bar is just perfect.  Also, I'm in school all day on Friday and only have a half hour between classes for lunch, so a piece of fruit and half a quest bar gets me through the rest of the day.

On a completely different note, I think it's great when we discover our trigger foods, for me it's crackers an nuts.  I can eat way too many for comfort so I keep them out of the house at all times.

I have one occassionally and one bar would last me all week, I would just break off a piece when I needed a chocolate fix but just the other day I was able to eat half (it was the first one I had in a few weeks). I don't think they are a meal replacement for VSGer's that are still in the losing phase.

I will still get them for emergency times when I am wanting my chocolate. I must try the cinnamon bun and strawberry shortcake next time I go and get some. I have tried a few different flavors like the peanut butter and jelly, peanut almond or something like that and just my chocolate ones. I keep them in my desk drawer at work cause it is the only time I get cravings when everyone is bringing snacks around but I am usually fine most times.

The best news is hearing they might be available retail, so I can get ONE as a special treat - every now and then.  They are sliders for me too.  I salute those of you than can eat half at a time, and not hear the other half SCREAMING you name!!

Sorry to hear they didn't work for you.  I just got three boxes in the mail this week.  I absolutely love them.  Thankfully they seem to fill me up quite well.  I WISH I could say I have the restriction enough where I could only eat one, but thats not the case.  But I have the will power and limit it to one a day most days, and maybe once a week I'll have a second one.  But I love them.  Almost all the flavors.  But the apple pie, berry bliss, and chocolate brownie are my favorites.  They aren't cheap, and I can certainly see how they could be a slider food for people.  Thankfully they do work for me.  Although my checkbook would like it if I didn't like them.  LOL

First, thank you for reviewing these.  I have been eyeing the brand for a bit wonderifng if I was going to splurge for it, and your review (final one) just made that decision for me.  I am able to EASILY eat a protein bar, no problem.  It also doesn't keep me full very long- at least not my 3-4 hour target.  Now, if I eat something first then the bar it holds me for 6 hours.

I agree with you about it being to desertish.  I really hesitated taking in a box to my classroom for days I forgot to pack a lunch.  Wasn't sure if I could stay out of them.  I can, but only because they are not all that great.  Pretty sure if I switched to something better tasting I might have issues.

Decision made, not buying a box of these bad boys!

Thank you for your series of reviews, I very much appreciate them!

I love these bars and can eat a whole one. I love that they provide so much protein AND fiber. I use them as a meal replacement 3 or 4 times a week, plus I keep 1 in my car. Yes they are expensive, but think about what we used to spend on food!

That stinks that they don't work for you!  They are perfect for me for a breakfast on the go, whereas a protein shake would not leave me as satisfied, and I think it just goes to show how different we all are.  At least you gave them a try.

I haven't tried the new flavors except the Chocolate Peanut Butter (tasted grainy) that someone gave me because some of them have sugar alcohols.  I stick to the Chocolate and Peanut Butter.  What I like best is that they don't have a coating on them, so they don't melt.  I keep them in my glove box for when I really need something to eat.  I also love them for traveling as I can stick one in my purse or pocket and it's there if appropriate food is not available.  I also like that the net carbs are low because they're filled with fiber which I am always in need of.

I far prefer a Quest bar (my bar of choice) to a protein shake because at least I feel like I've had food hit my stomach where a shake goes right through and I'm immediately hungry. I'd rather get my nutrition from whole foods but these bars will do in a pinch.

Well I have to say that I love all of the Quest flavors and they fill me up for 3 hours ( 1 bar only).  I am over 3 years out and and sometimes I'm just tired of shakes and want something different.  I still need about 30 to 40 grams of my protein to come from shakes or bars because of restriction.  I can only eat 2.5 ounces of meat and want the freedom to eat veggies and fruit.  I do realize that nothing, but nothing beats the nutrition stats of a shake, but dang, I need a break sometimes, LOL.  Sorry they didn't work for you, but I love them.

The Quest bar solved my problem. In the last hour stretch of my work day, I usually feel myself starting to get hungry, I always found myself hurrying to get my work done instead of stopping to eat something. Then when I am on my commute I get really hungry and am famished by the time I get home. Now I can eat a Quest bar on the way home. It satisfies me and I can be productive (and work out) when I get home instead of "gorging" on cheese sticks or something else that is quick and easy.
