Just wondering how much each person can eat and how far out are you? It seems like it would be easy to eat more than a solid protein, like a steak. Just trying to get an idea of how I will be portioning each when I am able to start them. I know most people say 1-2 oz but I didn't know if it was the same since they are mushie proteins?!

Thanks for any responses.

I am two months out since my VSG. I can only get about 3/4 of a shot glass eaten. Otherwise I am miserable if I over do it. So after one time, I learned NOT to over do.

Gotta get the "How much you can eat" mentality out of your head......

Eating till full...looking for restriction is not a good way to go..... That's how we got fat...

I ate a can for dinner with a little low fat mayo and a little relish and four of the new tiny baby carrots. i stay between 600 to about 750 calories per day with about 70/80 grams of protein.  My doc doesn't allow snacks so I get it all in three meals.  Quantities are good with my NUT and doc, but seem a little higher than most.  Beats me, I have never even been nauseus.  Had VSG December 22 and have lost 35 Plus pounds since surgery.

Every person is different. I suggest you start out as I did. Made a can of chicken salad. Measured out 2 Tablespoons. I ate that in about 15 minutes and was full for hours. Take it slow. Don't pu****
Don't worry about how much you CAN eat. Think about being good to your sleeve and and letting it heal without pushing it to its limits to feel restriction. Like Frisco tells us, think about undereating your sleeve instead. (meaning to satisfied, not full.) I've read how horrible people feel when they have pushed the limits of their young sleeve. Sounds painful and unpleasant.
Believe me, once you're on solids you'll feel the restriction - no need to test for restriction until it's time.

Just to clarify- I asked this question so that I can get an idea of how much people are able to tolerate without getting sick so that I can get an idea how to portion mine when I start. I have every intention of under eating my sleeve. I didn't mean for it to sound like I want to eat maximum amount of it. Plus with the texture/softness of tuna and ckn salad. I didn't know if the oz was much different than denser proteins.

Thanks again for the feedback.

It truly varies. If I make it at home, I like super sloppy chicken, tuna and egg salad and I can eat 3/4-1 cup but it's so mushy/liquified that it might as well be yogurt. When I'm out, most chicken salad has either fruit or some sort of veggie in it, and it isn't as liquified so I can typically only get in 1/2 cup. I'm 2.5 years out.

White albacore tuna in the pouch plus a bit of mayo and pickle relish is an easy go to meal for me.  I think the pouch is 3 oz?  And if I eat it all, I am very satisfied but not stuffed.  There are random days when I eat maybe half of it and am just DONE, but for the most part, 3 oz is a great portion for me.

It is not much different based on the type of protein, except for steak.  I don't use any sauce on my steak, so that probably has alot to do with it...but I get about 1.5 oz of steak in and could not have any more comfortably.  Otherwise, most of my protein has some kind of "lube" with it and I give myself 3 oz and am not pushing the limits with my restriction.
