I've had knee troubles since high school & 4 surgeries.  I'd been doing pretty well for the last 2 yrs, other than aching from arthritis & carrying around over 300#s.  I got my left knee upset by wearing the wrong type of shoes about 3 wks ago & I think I have frayed a meniscus again.  I was just babying it, taking ibuprofen, & icing it & it was almost back to 'fine' when today I did something stupid...chased a 6 yr old, literally, the fat-woman was running!  I tweaked it again & it hurts bad, like bad enough I am crawling through my house in order to avoid putting weight on it because it pinches the meniscus.

I'm scheduled for my sleeve on 2/16 & I can't take any anti-inflamatory medicines to help get it happier with me.  I don't want this to delay my surgery but I also know that I need to be able to get up & walk the same day & lots of walking afterwards to avoid blood clots.  I'm scared to call the dr's office Monday, but maybe it'll be better by then.  Anyone have any insight?

How long will you be off after surgery??? Maybe it will have some time to heal while off. Do have crutches or a walker to use for now?? they can give you a walker in the hosp. for walking if needed.
Not being to take the meds sucks for sure!!!

I'm actually back to "work" 2/20 (5 days post-op).  I do daycare from my home & my mom is coming to town to help me with my children & the daycare kids for the first week.  I knew I was going to need help with my own children so it seemed kind of pointless to close down for that week & lose the income (much-needed-income).

I don't have any crutches handy but could get my hands on some, I might need to go that way.  I have exercised at the gym 14 of the last 16 days & I was planning on working out until my surgery...totally bums me out that this is screwing up my new routine!  I may need to use the walker in the hospital but I'll deal with that as it happens.

I will put my big girl panties on...I WILL NOT allow this to alter my scheduled VSG:
Plan of action:
1) pray for God's healing power
2**** frequently
3) tylenol
4) brace if I can find one big enough
5) crutches if not better by tomorrow
6) see the ortho surgeon AFTER my VSG if pain is still interferring with motion

Quick update, knee already feels 90% better.  I'm going to try very hard to not do any more stupid things, but I'm sure I'm still good for Thursday now!  YIPPEE!
