Question  my heart is in A-fib I was sleeved Wed. my surgeon kept telling me she was going to send me home on Hemperin shots  for blood clots. Another surgeon wrote out my meds when I left the hospital. Should I call my Dr. (my surgeon) & see if she wants me on the med? She knows my medical history.

You are at risk for clot formation with A-fib. You need to be on a blood thinner like Coumadin (Warfarin) orally. Are you on these?

YES YES YES, call your DR ASAP! I don't even have any type of heart issues & my surgeon requires ALL patients to be on Arixtra self-injections for 7 days after leaving the hospital. It's very important, please contact your dr & get the meds as soon as you can. In the meantime, be walking & up as much as possible so that your blood stays flowing. I'll be praying for you!

Helllo, sorry to hear you are in afib, yes I would call my Dr asap. I had an afib episode prior to surgery, and a couple of episodes after. It seems it was caused by me with the change to a crushable for of medication, and dosage. I had to be electrically converted several different times to get back to normal rythem. I had concerns also about call my cardiologist, and found out that he preferred I call asap when a afib started. They ended up putting me on an anti arrithmia medication. It stopped and had no trouble in months. Also, there is a time window for electrically converting your rythem,When it occurs they tell me to go to the Er, seems to be common when I arrive, they knew how to handle. Best wishes.

P.s. when I was electrically converted they put me to sleep, and put sticky electrical pads on your chest and back. ask them to remove the sticky chest pads while you are out. Kinda hurts if you have a hairy chest...

Call the ER. This is not something to mess with.

Please call the hospital where you had your surgery for assistance.  Call the ER.  Afib is not something to play around with and if you were to be on the shots and are not, it could cause you some major issues.
