Weight loss on preop liquid: How much

What modifications if any can be made to a preop liquid diet?
Approximately how much weight can be lost during a 2 week period?
Thanks in advance
.
I'm not sure what you mean by modifications, but my surgeons office prescribed a 2 week pre op liquid diet of 1200 caleries per day and recommended Glucerna shakes(200 calories each, 2 per meal for 3 meals per day), and plenty of water. I was also told that I could have broths and add Crystal Lite to water. I found the shakes filling and spaced them out throughout the day(rather than 2 at each meal) and was never hungry . I lost about 10-12 pounds during that period. Hope this helps, and congratulations on your upcoming surgery.

Thank you.
I noticed that some people on OH site did liquids for 2 meals a day and had a light dinner because they had trouble doing full liquids for a month or 2 weeks preop.
That may have been me you saw post about that.  Sadly, I could only go 3 full days on the liquid diet before I was ready to go crazy.  My NUT said I could switch out 2 shakes a day with 2 small meals of lean meat or fish and some veggies.  That helped a great deal.  I was to eat every 4 hours so that would be 4 to 5 meals per day.  Usually I had 4.  2 shakes and 2 small meals.

I lost 12 lbs in 12 days.  Unfortunately, my liver was still quite fat and large, but I was 390 lbs so how much could it really shrink in 12 days?  They did the surgery anyway and really wouldnt know how fat my liver was until they got in there anyway.  Maybe it would have shrunk a bit more if I would have just stuck to the liquids but I was literally getting ready to just give up and go raid the fridge so all in all .. for me having those 2 small meals was a better option.

Good luck!

I know every surgeon is different but my 2 week pre op diet is as follows: protein shake for breakfast and lunch and for dinner 4-6 oz's of lean meat and non starchy veggies which are all veggies except( corn, peas, potatoes, and sweet potatoes). A light snack between meals if hunger persists and the following are acceptable 1 C light yogurt, 1 piece of fruit, non starchy veggies, 1/2 C low fat cottage cheese or 1-2 oz's low fat cheese or deli meat. I personally have just done the shakes and for dinner I've had 6 oz's lean meat, veggies and 1/2 C no fat cottage cheese, a TON of water like 70-90 oz's. I'm on day 5 and down 9lbs. Hope this helps!
