Loose skin

Ok. So I am 38 and have 80 more lbs to lose. My dr's office calls me a lightweight which I find hilarious!  Anywho......I have been told that I probably won't have much loose skin due to my age and projected weight loss. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this?  I mean I am going to do it anyway to help and hopefully resolve my diabetes, just curious though. I admit I am a bit vain....have been all my life. Lol

Age and amount of weight loss plays in and so does genetics.  I have lousy genetics for this so I'm expecting a hefty plastic surgery bill when it's over.

Well my mom and sister haven't aged too badly so maybe I will be ok!  Lol

I think low 200s is a light weight even though it feels huge to your body. You have 100ish pounds to lose total. Some people have 200+ pounds to lose just to get to a normal BMI. Some people have a lot of loose skin at that size and some people bounce right back. There are a ton of factors at play. Also, depending on your height you might be stretched out a lot more than someone of another height...

Someone said something interesting here. She said loose skin filled with fat or loose not filled with fat....

Very true!  I would rather have some loose skin that be unhealthy!

Me too but sometimes I get really scared especially since I know I'm going to have A LOT of skin :(  I have 230 pounds to lose. Can you imagine?! I've lost 77 pounds and I already see the loose skin. I know I can get some of it cut off but I don't want THAT body :( Especially since I'm recently out of a long relationship I don't know what I'm going to do on the dating scene. It's something difficult to grasp actually. I don't care if it's vain. A lot of people say they got the surgery ONLY for health reasons but there is always vanity mixed in there at least to some degree.

Ahhh a girl after my heart...I was also called a light weight annnnd I am vain! (no little bit there for me) lol.   I only weighed 199lbs before surgery but I'm also 5 feet tall.  I was sleeved a little over a week ago and I can notice my stomach is going to have some loose skin, because of having my daughter and because of the weight.  Again, its up to our genetics how loose that skin is. I think of it this way if plastic surgery is necessary then so be it, if not, the love your body, skin and all.  It your health that's the most important after all.

I am sure I will love the new me much more!  Even if I have to wear spanx all the time!  Lol. I am 5'5 and now 213. I know I won't have it bad but I still want to look GOOD in my clothes!  I have had 3 c sections and am certain that I will have some in the tummy. I am also recently separated and wonder what it will be like. Unfortunately I can't afford PS so I say a little prayer to God each day saying I know I'm vain Lord, but please don't let it be too bad!

Pretty much you will have loose skin. Once the skin has been stretched, it will be loose. Your genetics will determine how bad. I too was a lightweight, but going from a 18/20W to size 4......believe me there is saggy skin. I leave in 2 weeks for plastics!
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. ~2 Chronicles 15:7

Hello, can you give information on the loose skin surgery? Where? Who? How much? Thank you!!!

BIGGPRETTY

I'm now 6 months out and have loose skin. What folks say about genetics is the truth! I can tell I'm going to have arm issues and thigh issues. Little bit of turkey neck too. I don't care. I feel better than I've felt in forever. I'll consider surgery at some point, but I'm still actively losing. Also, I think you have to mantain your weight loss for a year before your eligible, but that could be urban myth.
I can cover everything in the right clothing, EXCEPT my turkey neck. Thanx to the suggestions on here, I started face yoga today. Just google "face yoga youtube" to find the exercises. If it even just helps 10% I will be happy.
