WTF??? Your profile not private

Did something disturbing today when I googled OH I notice a few names would pop up noting they are a member and their profile. Now I know on this board I am private and you have to request to be my friend to see it however when I googled it it took me right to my so called private profile and open for the world to read and see photos etc not very happy about it thinking I an going to delete my account haven't decided

Seriously I use to have plastic surgery photos but I took them down thank god for those of you posting any photos that you don't want the world to see that you thought were private you might want to take them down check it out google obesity help and your name and see how easy it comes up

Are you sure it didn't know it was you? If you are coming in from the same IP you usually use it would recognize you. Ask someone else to perform it from a completely differnt computer and I bet the won't be able to see it. Ican't see it when I click on your link.

That is quite disturbing. Companies are insane nowadays with their Internet snooping. Facebook, Tumblr, social networks in general. With people's jobs on the line, this is absolutely unacceptable. We're not celebrities-- our lives are as private as we want them to be.

Were you logged into OH when you did a separate google search? I just did a search of myself while I was logged out and it went to a page that said my information is private.

If you were logged in on a separate tab, it would take you to your own page.

Nevermind. I just logged out and searched for you and it took me right to your profile.

I would contact OH support and find out why it's not showing as private.

I don't have things here that I would not want others to see, however it is the principle of the thing just want others to know many have plastic pictures up that they have chose to share to help others and I just want them to be aware that this is not a totally secure site what I can tell so far is that if you are logged in anyone can get into your profile . Just educating thank you

I was thinking the same thing as the last poster. I even ran the same test. logging out then searching. It worked for my profile. I couldn't see anything but the screen with the red banner.

Maybe there's a setting you need to adjust.

Ok so thanks for the info I sent them a message and I logged out and then tried you are correct it then doesn't come up unless I'm logged in. But now my question is when I am logged in if someone googles it then , then it is not private confusing I will keep researching see what they tell me and fill you in thanks everyone

You can see it because you are you. So its not going to show as private to yourself.

That doesn't mean other people can see it.

I just googled mine and my profile came up with all my photos and my profile is private so I deleted all of my photos. I will probably be deleting my profile soon

I tried this too. I googled obesityhelp snowberry. My profile was the first thing to come up. And I could see my whole "private" profile (it is set to be visible to friends only).

But then I signed out and tried it again. This time I get :

So I am guessing if you are seeing yoru profile it is because you are logged in. If you are not logged in as you, your private profile shouldn't be visible.

Yes that happened for me too however someone else here googled me while I was logged in and they were taken directly to my profile so that being said because I am logged in write now there is an open door to my profile for anyone until I log out that is a problem a whole in security

Its only if they are on the computer you are on. You being logged on now, does not allow myself or anyone else to google you and see your private information.

So unless you share a computer, your ok!
