protien bars

When can we eat protien bars

I started with them when I was 4 weeks post op and cleared for regular food.  Now, I hardly ever eat them.  I still have a whole case of them unopened.

I waited until I was 6 months out because I had been warned they can be very heavy on your stomach.

When I did finally have one, it felt like a brick sitting in my stomach for hours. That and the carb to protein ratio wasn't worth it to me.

Eat slowly - like another said, they can feel like lead in your stomach.

Also, watch the suger content on them!  Very few protein bars are really compatible with our diet.

Heaviest weight:  310 pounds  (Male, 5'10")

You CAN eat them as soon as you are cleared for all foods, you might consider not eating them, as in never, or just once in a very rare while, because the protein to carb to calorie calculation on almost all of them is not even close to good enough for us.  I look at them as glorified "snickers bars".

Thank you for the information!
