Stalled!!

Ok, so I knew the 3 week stall was probably in the cards, but how long does it typically last??  I'm on day 5 of fluctuating between the same 2 pounds!!  ugh!!

I hit a 3 week stall at week 3. I lost 18 pounds the 1st 3 weeks post-op and then didn't lose a pound in weeks 3, 4, & 5. Then the scale showed a nice drop after. Stalls are frustrating but so common. You are doing great!!!

Sorry - Don't let it get you down.

I was such a guy with my 3 week stall.  I assumed the scale was broken and took it back to Bed, Bath, & Beyond.  Didn't buy a scale until I found one that showed a loss.

No one knows how long it will last.  The only proven technique for breaking one is staying on plan and waiting it out.

If you aren't getting your minimum 64 ounces of water yet, work on that.  You need a ton of water to fuel your ketosis.  The liver will use the water in breaking down fat.  Water is the key to everything.

OMG, so funny. . I must remember this.
I hit the three week stall right almost exactly three weeks after surgery (imagine that!) and it lasted a very long twenty days.  Then I lost another ten pounds in about two weeks.  It's totally normal...don't let it bother you too much (though I know that's far easier said than done!).

When I was in that stall, I looked at older threads about the three-week stall.  One thing I noticed when I looked at the tickers on the posts of  those who had written six months or a year ago about struggling wtih the stall, the tickers now show that they are all at or near goal. Somehow I found that comforting.

Definitely getting all my fluids!  And I'm IN my third week.  Last Tuesday was 2 weeks out, tomorrow is 3, so I am hoping beyond hope SOMETHING happens here SOON!  LOL

I was sleeved in July 2011...did well, lost 30 lbs...Dr had told me that I probably would not loose as much because I had had a revision from LapBand...well, not only am I stalled, I have developed acid reflux big time.  I wake up choking with that awful acidity taste or I'll eat and 30-45minutes later, food is coming up.  So the only thing to do now is go for the full gastric bypass.  Dr says they will remove the part of the stomach that produces acid and it will go away.  Saw my physician Friday and paper work will be submitted to my insurance so I hope it goes through.  I'm sooo tired of that acidity taste.

Goodness!!  Good luck to you!

rhearob -- I'm a "girly" but totally considered the guy move of looking into new scales! Mine aren't digital.  "Stalled" here 2. Luckily I can feel my body changing and wearing smaller clothes even though the scale won't budge so not totally discouraged yet! :-)
Thanks for all the vets that offered "hope!"

Take your measurements once a week during a stall.  It isn't a true stall if you are losing inches.  Put the scale away for a few weeks and just use your measuring tape.  I am almost 9 months out and hit a stall 7.5 weeks ago.  I was losing inches though and everyone was telling me they could see I was losing.  Sure enough, 5 weeks into the stall I did my measurements and had lost 4.5 inches off my body!  So not a true stall.  The stall just broke a few days ago...dropped 3 lbs over night!

Stay the course, do your measurements, and stay positive.  Sometimes the scale is our worst enemy!  I once did a weight loss program and we were only allowed to weigh every 6 weeks.  There are days that I wish I could discipline myself to do that.  The emotional ups and downs of that stinkin scale sometimes are overwhelming....the tape measure is a better tool to utilize.  Does it really matter if the scale stays the same if your body is shrinking???

Your doing great. stay on plan and it will break!  I promise!

So true, people keep asking how much more weight I've lost...0...but inches are coming off.  That feels good.
Thanks for all the encouragement!  So can anyone tell me the "science" being losing inches and not pounds?
