Failure to Plan

Ok, so for the past month we've been able to wear jeans to work.  No problem I bought some jeans size 18 regular, that started out tight but ended up a little lose by the next month.  Before that my dress pants were fitting lose size 22W.  I thought ehhh after a month I'll still be good to wear my 22's right?  Yea I was wrong wrong wrong! like really wrong!  I put them on last night since it's back to regular work clothes this month...bam! Clown pants!  What the hell?!  I'm not very smart apparently.  So I go to Wal-Mart and I can't find a single size 18 work pant.  Uhhh so I'm like well I'll try this 16W but it's not going to fit.  It will be tight as hell...NO! what! NO?!  This means I've lost 6 sizes since surgery?! How does that happen?  I don't get the sizing thing.  I never wore a size 16W at 241 before?

Lesson:  Sizes change very fast! No you can't wear your 22W's!

I completely understand.  My goal weight is 185 and a size 16.  I am 215 and already a size 16.  I distinctly remember wearing an 18  when I weighed 185 decades ago.  That is some serious vanity sizing :)

Yup at this weight I remember being a tight size 18?  I think there is defiantly some funny business going on.

That is awesome!  Congratulations!  I mostly shop thrift stores and Salvation Army now because I am changing sizes so fast.  When I find something in a smaller size that I really like, I pick it up because it will most likely fit 2 weeks later :)

And this is why I needed to plan.  I could have went to a thrift store...but instead I'm at walmart at 7am. lol.

I'm in a 14 and still weigh 202 which I find very weird. But the difference between being 202 NOW and 202 back in the day is that now I'm a more fit 202 pounds because I work out where back in high school I did not work out so I was more of a flabby 202 pounds so I wore a 16

That might have something to do with it too.  I do a lot more activity now.  So maybe more muscle?  Not sure.

It can be the style of the pants too. I can wear a size 22W clothes that I buy a Fashion Bug, but if I go to Walmart, I might be a 20W and from DOTS I am a 24W (junior type of clothes). And I am preop!

I have lost 50 pounds total since December (about 12 since surgery 6/21), and went to LB the other day for a new pair of shorts.  I was kind of upset that I was only down 1 size.  What the heck?!?  But then my watch fell off the other day - slid right over my hand, and it dawned on my that I am losing weight all over, not just my waist.

So I know the sizes today are much bigger than they were years ago, but I think we all also lose weight in different places after surgery.  Apparently, my wrists look amazing!  Hah!

I'm going to have to go back and try and see what LB size I'm in.  I know last month it was an 18.  I think you are right though.  I have lost a lot in my butt and legs so maybe that's it?  I still have a lot of upper body stuff to lose.  Your hilarious by the way! lol wrists.  It will all come off eventually right?  We just gotta keep trying.  Only losing 31 pounds since surgery has me a little bit frustrated but the size thing makes me happy!

i don't mean this to burst your bubble or anything, but the reason that you never wore a 16W at 241 lbs is because the 16W now is different from the 16W you wore before..    there are no standards in womens' clothing sizes, so the manufacturers can call them pretty much whatever size they want -- and most of the time they do it to play mind games with us...  we think we are smaller because we fit into a smaller size...  "vanity sizing" -- makes us feel better so we will buy more, or so they think....

i have a simplicity dress pattern from 1952 in a size 12 (got it from a antique/collectible store)...  i compared the body measurements on the pattern to the size chart on simplicity's current website...  that 1952 size 12 would be a size 6 today....

try not to get too wrapped around the axle on clothing sizes and just wear what fits and flatters you...  and keep doing what you're doing...  you are rocking your sleeve!

Oh yes it's vanity sizing for sure lol.  If you look at the pattern measurements from Vogue I think they'd be more like your size 12 from 1952. lol and it was 16W. lol but I was a 22W and they were giant...lol no bubble bursting here..I know I know but still a huge difference.

I have found my body is shaped very differently than I had anticipated. I can recall hitting certain weights to find the size I'd worn at that weight was wayyyyy different than before...
